I want to buy a new digital camera, the best possible solution of compact dc, 'cause I haven't enough money for dslr. I have had Canon Power shot G3 for two years now, and I am very satisfied with it. Please, help me to choose the best choice between Sony 828, Nikon 8800 and Canon Pro 1. Thanks in advance

i can tell you the Pro 1 is very choppy in its focusing (but apparently there's firmware updates for this.) it also distorts quite a bit at 28mm, also you can't have the lens hood on while shooting flash at 28mm.

the nikon 8800 is a little fussy in its focusing as well, although I was more impressed by its overall sharpness. the sony i've never used, can't fairly stack it against the other two.

IMO if you have a G3 now, go for the G6... 7.1 mp and 4x optical, amazing sharpness and colour, and you won't have to get used to a new camera style.

Sony 828 in a heartbeat. Great feel and ergonimics, excellent shots, and I love the zoom on it.
