post processing lately has become a bit of a bore in the darkroom, I want to do something new!

I know a lot of you used to do film based photography, so beyond doing negatives of positives...what other fun can I have in that room?

thanks!

While the paper is in he developer turn the main light on for a second. You will get an interesting solarized effect. Alternatively you could try making photograms.

Photogram:- pictures created from shadows of objects placed directly on or above the paper. They provide a way of making pictures without the need for a camera or negative. All that is required is the enlarger,a sheet of photo paper and some objects which can be used to create the image. Give it a go !!!!

i've always fancied using "liquid light" emulsion, which you can use (apparently) on any surface. Google it if you're interested..

If you try it (or anyone else has experience with it), do let me know

Like dogman said, photograms are interesting too. you have to experiment to see what objects work.

And if you wanna combine the digital and the b+w darkroom, try making your own negatives on photoshop and printing them on acetate. I guess you need a high dpi and low magnification for the resolution to be anything near reasonable, but its summat else worth experimenting with...

don't forget to let us know if you find something fun.

When I was in High School, I was in the darkroom with another girl in the class. We were playing a little grab-ass and then we heard a very stern, "Ahem". It was followed by us saying, "Sorry Mr. Cunningham, I didn't realize you were in here."

Last year I had a color photography class, but these few things could easily be applied to black and white, if you haven't tried them yet:

This is a glass sheet smeared with vaseline lying over the easle:

This is another glas sheet with drops of water lying over the easle:

Two negatives:

I didn't do this one very well, but you could try it anyway. It's a trasparent paper I colored black with clear writing, lying on top of the paper:
