I am very please with my 5th place on Minimalism challenge.
Seems that I am on an ascending curve and I own it to dpc.
Regarding the question how I have accomplished this in basic editing I will post the original here and the steps I have followed.
Rotate
Crop to get rid of the unwanted parts after rotating.
Autolevels
Curves (just a little fo accomplish the white background)
Covert to B&W with channel mixer
Duotone
Convert to RGB
Resize
Slithgly USM
Add border
I shot the pic overexposed with the result in my mind and I didn't fail.
Original only resize ot of camera
Entry
Colour version
Please let me nkow what do ypu think on the colour version. My wife told me it was better!
Thanks!

I personally like the entry better, I feel like I get lost in it. The color one seems less peaceful, and thats what I liked about the entry. It was one of my favorites in the voting. Nice work. |

I like your entry better than the colored version...
on a different note, is it ok in basic edting to get rid of the details in background ? In this picture using curves to remove the mountains in background ? |

yes, b/w version is definitely better. If the subject didn't wear blue jeans but something more in the tonal range of the shot, it could be a different story |

I prefer your entry version too. I like the colour version but I find the blue trousers drawing my attention. |

Thank you for your replies.
I do like the B&W one either and the blue jeans are distracting indeed.

The entry version is definitely the better of the two, in my opinion. It has a raw nostalgia kind of quality, which is lost in the colour version. |

I liked your entered version as well. I thought the processing worked very well on this shot.

I guess I'm old and set in my ways, but I'm an old B&W dark room troll. There are certain types of shots that I prefer in B&W, and this really isn't one of them. I don't think the blue jeans are distracting at all, and the color gives me a reason to stop and look at the subject just a little longer than I do in B&W. Excellent either way. ok. B&W 5, color 1.

I go with the color too, partly because the whites in the B&W are too yellow...also because the color adds more "life" to it..
