My wife and I will be heading to Australia next month. Since that was the impetus for me to finally buy a D70, I want to make sure I get some great pictures. We'll be in Sydney, Uluru and Darwin.
Any suggestions at all are greatly appreciated.

That's great. I live in Melbourne, but I know you'll have a good time in those other places even if Melbourne is the best!
Suggestions on what to photograph? Too many things. You are going to be clicking non stop!.
Have a safe and happy journey!

I was in Oz in '91 so I was just listing what I found interesting/fun. Hopefully most of the other attractions I mentioned are still there (at least the nature ones anyway).

Toronga Zoo
Old Victoria Building (shopping)

Who are you doing your course with? I spent a year teaching diving up there a while ago.

You'll have an absolute ball :)

Went with Cairns Dive Center they seem to have what I needed: a prescription mask, a recommendation from Joel from DiveTheReef.com (excellent person to deal with), and the course that fit my timeline
I'm so stoked :D

Hehehe... the opera house is fun....

Lot's of great angles - but you have to go to some lengths to do something with it no-one has done before.

If you can swing it you might want to try and get to the great barrier reef (i.e cairns) you may be able to get a cheap flight out of sydney up there... It is, after all, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.

Cheers

If you get to Victoria don't forget to check out the Great Ocean Rd. It's amazing.
