I have tried several times to shoot in Olympus RAW mode with my 5050z. When I open the image up in Photoshop 7 (I downloaded the plugin), it always looks extremely dark - almost black. There are several choices when importing the image but none seem to work. Does anybody know how to make the RAW format workable?

Also, if this RAW format is unaltered in camera, and suppossed to provide the best detail, especially in shadows, why is the file size on 7mb whereas a .tif file coming out of the 5050z is 14mb?

One other thing. I have read reports that the SHQ extended format in the 5050 captures (or interpolates) images at 7.7mp. Can anyone shed some light on this please.

Thanks Steve

If you are saving a RAW photo as a TIFF file, you may be saving as a 24 bit file instead of a 48 bit file. While saving, do not use an extension. If you can't save at 48 bits, it will automatically be saved as a JPEG file. Be sure to specify the highest quality number (5).

Go to Olympus´ Site and download the raw plugin for Photoshop. It works great.
