Since no-one else has started an outtakes thread (that I can tell), it must be my turn :o)

The shot I went for did reasonably well (34th), but I'm curious as to whether these two other possibles would have been as well received or not:
Tree Fog 1
Tree Fog 2

Any opinions / comments / other outtakes welcome ;o)

1 is better.
IMHO.

Does that include my actual entry, or just the two outtakes? :o)

It's a close thing.

Your entry wins, but only just. It has a great angle in the composition and more to focus on.

But outtake one wins on colours and ambience.

I think I agree with Kavey. I do like all of them. I gave your spider apples a 9.

Do you think this would've done better than my kiwi? Citrus

Probablly not - didn't seem to have enough zest - no big deal, my kiwi shot was where I expected it to be...actually better, so I'm not complaining.

Thanks :o)

I personally prefer 'KIWI', as the shot is more interesting and has good contrast, unlike the 'citrus' shot. However, the Citrus shot may have done better if the lighting has been tweaked.
IMO of course...

manic and RedRuthann, I agree that both of your submissions were the correct choices. You did a good job!

What do you think of this one? It was my first idea I came up with. Then I thought it was going to be repeated by other people (which it didn't) and I spent all sunday working on my actual submission, which I'm very happy with the comments I got

I scored your submission a 4, I'm afraid. I would have given the papapya at least a 7.

Thanks for responding. But what's your reasoning behind the 4? What do you think I could've improved?

I just plain didn't care for it as an image. It was nicely in focus and the whole shebang, but it didn't do anything for me. Thus, my 4.

Jenarom I liked your Alien Landscape except for the toy. I wonder if there is a fruit or vegetable that would have had the same effect. The picture was very creative. The thing I wanted to ask you was about your photograph on candid, "My Eyes" your daughter. I was going to submit a photograph that had a young girl like yours with her top off. She wasn't the main subject but she was in the photograph and I could not crop her out of the picture without ruining the shot. The picture was a fountain image where people were cooling off from the heat. The thing is I didn't submit this picture for I did not want to hear from people for fear of what might happen because of the pervert paranoia that's rampaging our country. I am glad your photograph was received well for I see nothing wrong with your photograph.

Thanks, bobgaither. I wanted to keep the toy on the picture mostly to give a sense of proportion of its surroundings.

Now, about "My Eyes!", I did receive a couple of comments of people prefering more croping of the picture. I decided to crop it just above the "critical limit" because I thought it was important to show the little toys on the lower left corner of the picture, so that the viewer can appreciate that she's in her real bathroom.

Anyway, we all have to accept everyones comments and views of things. Some people like your picture and others don't. Thanks for your comments, and good luck on your other challenges.

My veggie outtakes are here.

Hope to day is a lot calmer. I responce to the comments I got. Yes I did try a different cropping but thought it boring and too typical. Someone asked about my setup. as you see I made an outdoor one on wheels so I could change the direction of the light. (the sun) I was temped to enter that just for fun. lol

Anyone care to second guess my choise and or offer suggestions?
