Hi everyone,

Since the weather conditions are very, very boring out here last week, I thought I'd help nature a bit.
(or: "What to do when you're bored to death...")

Cheers,

Very nice macro perhaps you should become a member and sell some of your prints .

Did you cut the lightening out of another picture?

thats a very "striking" image, real or fake.

Nice PS work! I'd suggest you get a print of that up asap -- you're sure to sell a few!

Thanks for all the great comments!

For those who are interested: I made this image by creating a few lightnings in Photoshop, and blend them with the highway shot.

To create a lightning:
1.Create a new document of appr. 200 x 300 pixels
2.Fill the canvas with a black to white gradient
3.Add Filter/Render/Difference Clouds
4.Invert the colors bij pushing Ctrl + I
5.Adjust the levels to increase the contrast substantially
6.Adjust the hue/saturation with the 'colorize' box ticked

...et voilà.

It's a very easy, quick and fun-to-do technique. Enjoy it!

(and thanks again for all the lovely reactions, I'm really considering to become a member.)

(Edited: Forgot a step! It should be OK now)

Is the highway shot without the lightning up anywhere? Looks pretty interesting itself ...

Believe me, Ed... It's the most boring picture you'll ever see. :o)

Wow!
That's an amazing "cheat" - absolutely stunning.

hmm ... think I've seen a few more boring than that, actually. Sure, it needs the contrast and colour work that the lightning shot's had, but I really like the way the road sweeps out of the frame, and the short trails of the lights.

Nice work turning that into the other shot ;-)

Marco, that's an awesome piece of work, especially when you see just how different from the original the final product is.

Thanks for the tips on creating lightning too.

I have also used this method to create lightning. It really is quite easy to do but marco`s shot is one of best i`ve seen.

How do you fill the canvas with black to white gradient? Using your foreground background or the gradient map?
