Just got my tax return wired into my account Friday, so today I ordered my first professional lights - an 800 AlienBee flash unit, large softbox, 2 lightstands, mounting bracket for reflecting disc, 20 degree honeycomb grid, and a single light carrying bag.

Sorry, so excited, had to tell somebody who understands. I told a few people at work, but I just got confused looks.

just had a little scoot around your website. Some cool stuff on there. You should make excellent use of the new equipment. Happy shooting. :D

I will be using them outside and inside. Outside is going to have to be limited to how long my extension cords are until I can afford a Vegabond portable power pack.

I also hope to get a 1600 flash unit later to really have some juice behind it for outdoor shots. but all in due time...

Are you referring to any one picture of mine or just in general? Most of the photos I have done so far have been available light. And if I have used lights on them, they were the cheap hot lights from Home Depot. I even rigged up a "softbox" with foamcore and a bedsheet to diffuse the light. But it all gets very frustrating quickly. Hense...that is why I'm spending the money for the lights.
