Finally! halfway there. This has been the most fun I have had in a while.(Yes, I lead a very boring sheltered life.) I tried last night to come up with anything remotely resembling creativity but I couldn't do it. Thank you all for sharing yours with me. I am looking forward to my next 50%.

Stats: You have rated 68 of 137 images (50%) in this challenge.

I will die laughing if one ribbons with only one tack in it! There are some really good one-tack shots, one in particular is amazing.

I got my comment too, Dahkota - thanks!

Also, left a comment for DeniseBernadette in her portfolio.

Comments - bad, good, one word, or whatever... they're golden.

I just wanted to say sorry to everyone... I was having a bad night. I was having several email conversations with DPC members yesterday and up into the night due to the "is having help fair?" thread. I was upset and thought that if these few people were going to quote me the rules word for word I would do the same. I shouldn't let people get to me as bad as they do sometimes, but yesterday people were really pushing my buttons. Sorry for being such a Rule Nazi ;o)

I wouldn't worry about it. There are plenty of people who are probably voting that way in this challenge as they do in every challenge. I believe the challenge rules are much like the speed limit - a suggestion, not a requirement! ;)

And, before I get slammed for saying that, no I don't really believe it! My husband is a cop for gosh sakes - he'd kill me if he knew...

You are welcome for the comments. I feel I owe it to everyone for taking all the time to create the challenge entries. I learned a few new things over the last few days of massive commenting:
1. No matter what you say about an image, someone will disagree with you, probably the photographer.
2. Even if you don't like an image, you can find something positive to say about it.
3. People are much friendlier when you comment - they appreciate it. Kind of like saying thank you to a cashier.
4. Often, you get comments back.

I have posted more than 200 comments since Thursday and yes, I have too much time on my hands. But it has opened up my thinking on photography in general and my own work in particular.

Thanks to the others (notonline, rex, etc.) who pushed trying to comment on all in a challenge. I picked an easy one though! :)

Well, this is a forum and your opinions are as good as anyone's. Sometimes it is difficult to express an opinion here, because of the immediate negative responses, but there often just as many positive responses. To quote a well known jailbird: "It's a good thing!"

I can relate... I'll even check your "one tack" comment on my shot as "Helpful" to show my appreciation ;) Hope you're doing better.

Thanks for your comment dahkota, it made me feel much better.

There, now you feel better too.

And that, folks, was a perfect example of the joy of comments.

I am finding it difficult to give every image a comment. So just don't sway me pos. or neg. I mean maybe I should put that but I would like to atleast take the time to say something.

No need to apologize! I know it's tough, but try not to let people get to you, nobody here is real anyway, we're all just computer-generated conversations. My "coding" is designed to give people a little bit of a hard time every once in a while, but I'm always typing with a smile.

Now, more importantly, how am I goin to win the Blue Ribbon with a score like this, curses on you low-judgers.

But there are no TACKS in the image. I have no choice but to give them a 1. 2 if it has a pretty sunset.

;)

Nicely said. Giving a 1 is pretty cruel, especially when the challenge has clearly been met. There is nothing to say that "Tacks" had to be "push pins". There are several meanings for the word, including horse equipment, that someone has entered. I'm going to give them a 10 just to spite those narrow minded people.

of course you have a choice!

you are the one who is deciding how to rate an image, no one os forcing you to give out a "1" for an image that clearly and creatively met the challenge but not your personal narrow definition. (Note the image in question is not mine, but I get so tired of people who are so eager to slam someone else's idea.)

while it is your prerogative to vote how you please, shouldn't a "1" be reserved for really, really, really bad images?

Well I couldn't resist ... I had to turn on my Update Button... I couldn't take it anymore, from my 4 early this morning, it has been going up slowly back to my usual score. At least it's not a 4!

Must have the update button, must have it!

Right on Dave! It is nice to see things, from a different perspective, that are imaginative, a little outside the box, alternative thinking and so on. Otherwise we might just as well be tin soldiers.

Photographers are supposed to be able to look outside the square. They look for things that most people would miss, and capture it for prosperity. I would have thought that would have been appreciated on this site, but obviously not!
