Enter a picture that shows your corner of the world. It will probably
be the most cliched, postcardy view of your home town - so that we
can all get a feel for the different parts of the world the DPCers live
in. Bag-pipers from scotland, Cowboys from Texas - let's see where
you live and what it's famous for!

I like it! There are at least three or four well known cliches here in the PAC NW to pick on. Let's see...the space needle, Mt. Rainier, O.K. make that two....smiles.

It's a nice idea... but what if you live in the mose boring town in the whole entire world? I think its more location related and less photography related.

I live in a town. It has houses, and thats about it. If someone lived in a villa on the coast of florida, they would almost definatly get a better photo than me :)

Interesting idea tho, it could be worked on.

Swashbuckler--
I guess Boeing field isn't that recognizable. Maybe a ferry. How about a mottled gray frame showing the typical view of the sky?

konador--
Your goal might be to take a shot which most exemplifies "boring."

This is a nice idea that I think most people could get into.

I think this is a great challenge suggestion.

I would LOVE this one. It would mean having the voters intentionally staying open minded about cultural differences rather than being puzzled about whether or not it meets the challenge when they see a photo they don't understand :P.

And please don't take this to be American bashing, I mean it about all the voters.

this would be a fun challenge ... the only "challenge" would be to find an image to BEST represent your part of the world ... whether it be state - country - city - neighborhood ... i think it would help us all learn about each other ... hope to see this one in the future

I love the idea too :) But I'm getting cynical enough to think alot of people will comment "Sorry, doesn't meet the challenge. This looks nothing like MY corner of the world" :)

(Just kidding)... (Well maybe kidding a little)...

LOL;-) You can't possibly live in the most boring town, because I do!!

I do think this idea has some possibilities though.

You know, if we waited a week or so on this challenge, I could get some awesome "fall foliage" shots in my corner (which, btw, konador, is much more boring than yours prolly is!)

I live in clevedon, and our landmark (on all the postcards etc) is a wonkey tree.

ROTFL, ok, I give, what's a wonkey tree?
09/14/2002 01:07:58 PM · #15
its a tree, that it wonkey.

the only thing my town is known for is Sing Sing prison... and i really don't think they would let me roam around there with a camera! ;)

But Konador, your corner of the world could be the corner of your bedroom where your computer and all its gizmos are, couldn't it? I suppose you spend a lot of time in that "corner" :)

I would like this challenge. I live in the Pac NW and it has a lot more than rain (have had mightly little of that this summer) and Mt Rainier: Rhododendron, Evergreens, and let's not forget: ... Microsoft :( I live near Puget Sound (gorgeous islands) and Mt Baker, also near Seattle and Vancouver, BC. The best way to capture my town would be to take a shot of a car with a Calif license plate, since the Californians are moving here by droves. My corner of the world though would be my garden.

A Sing Sing shot would be interesting. Suggest you befriend one of the inmates so that you get visiting privileges, then take your shot (hey, there are women sending marriage proposals to guys on Death Row). It takes ingenuity and effort to come up with something original.
