I would appreciate some honest comments on my accidential letters submission.

The challenge rule said "The shape of letters can be found in nature and in other objects. Create an interesting photograph containing something which has the shape of a letter but wasn't intended to be one."

Well i think this photograph met the challenge 100%. I'm a bit pissed off with the very low result i got. there were 432 viewers and only 279 voters?

yes i made a mistake while i was typing breaking but it was still obvious i think what the photo was referring to. i thought it was also technically a good shot. i chose a rather empty background(just the backlight) because it is a tiny piece of hair and it wouldn't make any sense with any kind of background so i wanted to keep it simple. i'm also quite upset with the comments i got so i'd appreciate some proper comment on the photo. why you think it stuck so low? anybody else unhappy with their result??

I didn't vote on the challenge, but for me, the issue is it's not a very interesting photo.

First glance from the thumbnail it looks like a nude. Perhaps that's the reason for the high number of views?

Your image doesn't have any technical flaws (as far as I can see). It just doesn't stand out.

Something like:
- an eye looking at the broken hair,
- including a tendril of hair, or,
- some prop to add to the feeling of inspection - drawing the viewer to the split ....
would add more impact.

My blunt thoughts about Y entries in general weren't too hot because I kinda feel that you can almost fall out of bed and find an accidental Y somewhere. I'm exagerating of course but I was more moved by things that might have been harder to see or find. No offense to all you Y people out there.

There's nothing wrong with your image but it isn't terribly interesting. I would assume that after seeing so many Y's this shot didn't jump out and maybe lost some steam in the shuffle.

I have left a comment - have just read the "nude" comment - v good spot!

My views during voting were twice the votes cast. Same for current "Extreme Action" challenge. Not sure you can read much into that.

:) i never thought i would read such a response. so u didn't like the letter i chose? whats wrong with y? ;)) any other letter is very easy to find. the easiest ones are actually t's, a's, s's, o's and m's... and why is a hair macro not interesting? how often do you see that? and how often do you see a cofee cup?

in the thumbnail version, it actually looks like a minimalistic figure drawing.

The macro shot is just not close enough to show any interest in the hair in my view. One could also argue that it is not a very interesting accidental letter due to the potential for set-up.

not close enough? have you ever seen a hair split? do you know how tiny it is? and potential for set up? how come? i wasn't expecting this to be a winner or in the top ten. but i come on. there are obvious set ups that made a higher rank. i'm just confused. it is photographically set up yes but the letter is not set up, it is more natural then a door know being an r or an o.

i checked your entry and i must admit i first thought it was just a b. i tried really long to figure out what it was but couldn't manage. was an "is" right? i didn't rate it very high but since my votes never count who cares;))
