Started out around 5.3 now 4.9ish and dropping quick. Getting alot of useful comments though so that is the silver lining on this dark cloud.
just getting into digital photography, its a nice break from the job. Always respect the comments and thanks for taking the time to leave them.

Now THIS is the way to express feelings about a low score!
The rest of you pay attention.
Strikeslip, though you have been in only two challenges with a high score of only 5.5, I have a strange feeling you will win a lot of ribbons here if you continue participation. The quality in your work clearly shows in those two entries. And, you are obviously creative. Put those together and you have a winning combination.

What is happening??? At mid day I was at 6.3, now I am at 5.9!!! That was my strongest entry ever, and the one I am most proud of. Also, all the comment I got were very positive. I whish those who gave me 4 and below explain why. I can't understand the voting pattern.

fplouffe, I know exactly how you feel. I do feel that this is my best submission so far and my photo is not getting the the score that it deserves. Oh well. |

Was wondering the same. I've dropped over 1/2 point since this morning. One of the comments received praised the shot and noted their vote as a 5.
(just checked the members stats and see with 405 votes given, the average was 3.8741 - guess a 5 is pretty good then ??)

| My score has dropped a 1/2 today as well. For my photo anyway it is the "Did Not Meet Challenge" crowd making their way though. I am getting great comments but at the end...DNMC. It's all cool, I love my photo. |

I dropped over a 1/2 point through out the day.
first look-6.4 something, now 5.7 something
everytime I clicked the update button I would drop.
My entry for this was excellent, one of my best
only three comments
this is unreal!
I wish people would leave comments so I have an idea what they are voting it down for. |

Man. I kinda liked that picture...
Oh well, my first challenge submission, I'm sure I'll improve. (Don't count on it though.)
What I really hate is that now that it's in there, I realize I can go into PS and make a tiny, legal tweak that makes it look like twice as good. Such is life.

Mine's dropping too... I think many people are scoring on the basis of the thumbnails. Many of the pictures I'm looking at have amazing details at full size that are just lost when only looking at thumbs..
Good luck everyone! There are a lot of wonderful images in this challenge. It's obvious to me that this subject struck a deep chord with a lot of folks. My voting will certainly try to honor that.

Doing ok but I see were I could have improved on the imgage a bit. I made a very simple editing error that cut a key element out of my pic, oh well maybe I'll pay attention next time.

I did a photoshoot at an abandoned place, but as I was setting up there was a golden kodak moment. Unfortunately, I wasn't fully set up to take advantage of that, so my score is now:

This might explain why the scores are low - the subject is so incredibly sad.
There probably are few of those "feel good" bumps that come from the warm-and-fuzzies that one sees in most of the other challenges. If anything, at the end of a tiring work day and a second look, people probably take an even more jaded look - and bump their original score downward.
I found the sheer number of entries sad. What does that say about us - that we let so many structures go from places of love or hope to abandoned pieces of rubbish?
Well, there's my cheerful look at life this evening! Maybe, it's time for a challenge called "Hope" or "Future"!

I would certainly say that this is higher than I expected, being my first challenge coupled with the fact that I could pick apart the flaws in my shot with ease. So, you can imagine that '5ish' is worthy of me kissing my monitor.

what a depressing score for my first challenge with a photo i thought was going to do a lot better than what my current score (4.6). but this gives me an initiative to do even better on the next challenge.

I had to stop hitting the update button because every time I hit it my score would golower. Is anyoneelse commenting???
I also feel there is a strong distinction between abandoned buildings and a ruin. They are 2 very different subjects.
