I mean, could it be a typo and they mean the word "whether"? And if it Weather in the atmospherical sense... if I take a photo of clear sky, is that good or bad? That would be lack of weather no? Or if I manage to capture a snow blizzard here in Texas, would I get low scores from the bleeding hearts that feel sorry for the animals out in the cold? And if I can't make my own decision on what the word weather means, can I get Setzler to take my photo for me? And what if I don't like his photo of chess pieces in the rain? Can I protest? And if the photo wins, can I sell it as my own?

I just don't know. Any help is appreciated.

Peace and big toe grease.

Sky clear, broken, overcast, thunderstorm, mist, rain, few clouds ... that is weather.

Cheers

In my short time here, I have noticed a tendency that many voters have to give high scores to those photos that most strictly adhere to the challenge. So even if blue sky is weather, the strict interpretation may be that they want storms.

I think this topic is discriminatory against Texas residents. Weather officially stopped happening here last week. The sun is out, the skies are blue and I doubt it'll get below 80F until October now.

Was at least fun to finally get back into the pool on Sunday though. Bit sunburnt today.

Living in Houston, I've been trying to photograph humidity. But it doesn't work. Anyone have an idea how to show humidity?

One of my favourite songs:

Walking 'round the room singing
Stormy Weather
at 57 Mt. Pleasant St.
Now it's the same room but everything's different
You can fight the sleep but not the dream
Things ain't cooking in my kitchen
Strange affliction wash over me
Julius Caesar and the Roman Empire
Couldn't conquer the blue sky
There's a small boat made of china
Going nowhere on the mantlepiece
Do I lie like a loungeroom lizard
Or do I sing like a bird released

Everywhere you go you always take the weather with you

Yup...
I remember singing that, rather drunk on Russian vodka, sitting on a train between Moscow and Leningrad - some of the vodka was ours, some belonged to Russian travellers we befriended.
I also remember some of us singing it walking across Red Square after sharing ciggies and chat with the soldiers patrolling there.

Perhaps something that has been affected by weather - my face for instance which has got a few weather lines showing lately.

There's a saying down here in Florida "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes, or just cross the street." It's true that it's subject to very sudden changes, but lately it's been sunny every day. Sunny, hot, and humid.

"Or the effects weather can have on the environment." :)

The challenge says: 'Try photographing weather or the effects weather can have on the environment. Good luck.'

What people will vote for, however, is an utter mystery to me, so I can't help you.

I think it can be something outside that is weathered...Like a mountain that has been eroded from water, or wind (both of which are elements of weather)...does anyone else agree??

Taking a shot of the wind sounds interesting. I can think of a few things if I could get the shutter speed down a bit.

Anthony.

Now I'm confused, does that mean we can also take a picture of GOOD LUCK? ;)

Yes I agree, but you might need to consider that when choosing a Title, if the subject is not clear for the viewer.

Yeah... and who is this Ed guy? He's awfully pushy with him telling us what to take pictures of. I wanna see Ed's portfolio!

I think folks will fair better in this challenge if they take images on the "effects" of weather, like erosion, than buy looking for weather events.
