Ok I have a question. We own Oklahoma Galaxy Beauty pageants and I took the pictures for my mom. Most the pictures turned out REALLY well accept a few that got REALLY noisy. I have been sitting here trying to figure out NeatImage but always come up with a REALLY soft picture afterwords. I will upload some pics and if anyone can help with them and show me what they can do that would be AWSOME. I am not asking you to do them all for me (unless you want too there are only like 15 :) ) Here are the pics (a few)These are some of the better ones as well, if you would like me to upload the worst ones let me know

*EDIT* These pics will all be 5x7 and 4x6 so my upsizing is going to affect the new results correct? will this be an easier fix than the initial? Also, downsizing wont affect will it?

Thank you for your help,
Ryan Brantner

Actually, I did it in Bibble - I just did some noise reduction and some sharpening - played with a few settings and bam, that's what came out.

I am finding bibble's noise reduction to be as good as NI if not as .. customizable. :)

A bit off topic, but I am curious what settings you had in Bibble. I find Bibble's noise reduction is so strong (in terms of sharpness loss), you can't use more than 7 on noise and 1-2 on luminance without severely impacting sharpness.

First of all the noise in these photos look like compression artifacts, what resolution setting did you use? At high resolution you shouldn't see that noise, even at high ISO you shouldn't see that kind of noise. Looks more like compression artifact.

I'll work on the rest later - send them to mantonino@hotmail.com and zip the file or something. I'll send them back tomorrow. :)

I will have to look at the settings then. PM me and I'll remember. haha

well we sent the pics off to the lab to get made to 5x7's and the 4x6's and they were really noisy... more so then what they show... I would upload a picture of the ones we got back except our scanner is out at the moment. I took the pictures on film (ISO 400) just, these turned out SUPER bad for some reason, while the others were perfect.

I am not sure I am providing you all with enough information on my problem and I apologize for that! I will get the pictures in 5x7 dimention and upload them and you can see what I mean when I talk about the noise.

Ohhh these are FILM shots? ISO 400 on film can get pretty grainy and the scanning of the film can introduce more noise if they are not scanned properly.

yea I know, these are pics that were maid on the walmart CD deal (closest place to develop in the shortest amount of time) So they are how they appear on the 4x6's we had, but the 5x7's are REAL bad (as you can tell by looking at the 4x6's

If you sent me the files, I didn't get it. Could you title the email "pageant pictures" so I don't delete it if it goes to Junk folder?

I don't mind doing them up for you - it's about a 3 minute project with Bibble.

Just send me the best versions you have.

ya know, if you wanted to be sneaky, you could mask the grain with some kind of stylized brushstroke thingy os something. Then it would look "artistic" instead of "crappy".
