I know this is my 1st contest and I am new to this. I felt like I was on a roller coaster. When I looked over the contest pictures from highest score to lowest. The pictures (not the rates) was a really good photo to a great photo to a some what great, then a really beautiful photo and so on and so on... This is a challenge that did that. Other challenges go from great to not so great. I have been watching the challenge for about a 6 months maybe more. I am not saying my picture is great. I am bias since it was my 1st grandbaby and a new camera. I wanted the skin tone a little better. I dint have much time editting. matter of fact the only editing is was backlight and sizing. I dont know how to get my contest pic here but I was 194TH. I know there were better photos then mine. I's just saying there was a few dupes, and a lot of egg shots. Do they come from the same person? Are the members challenges like this or just the open challenges. I am a monthly member now wondering if I want to pay for a year.

Welcome to the addiction of entering the challenges Deborah :) What a gorgeous new granddaughter!!
To get the photo thumbnail here, open a 2nd window/tab with your image and copy the numbers at the end of the url(the image number). Click on the last little box above this reply pad (one on the right) paste those numbers into there.

Red,
You scored higher than me and I did not think my photo was that bad either. :) I am a paid member since the beginning of this month and i really think its worth it. Its only 25$ for the entire year. I have learned alot so far. Even thought the criticism can sting I gain knowledge by hearing it. Usually if the subject of the photo is adorable and perfect like your grandbaby and you get a lower score its about the photo quality or style itself.
Anyway about the membership. I have been looking for local photography clubs and classes to join and the prices were outrageous, I mean like 80 dollars a month and only offerd once a week classes whereas this is 25 for a year and I can be on here 24/7 if I please.. And i get HONEST opinions from people. I have learned to take my comments in dtride and ask lots of questions in the forums.
Well I hope to see you around here more often
