I tried to pull mine at the last minute (still had a minute to go) and couldn't access the site.
Stop, Reload, Nothing. Stop, reload, nothing. Over and over and over...
This went on for over a minute and by the time I accessed the site, the wait screen was up.
The site slowdown/hangups bite.
(Even had time to load IE6 and try - same thing. Sitting watching an animated cursor churn away here is getting to be the norm anymore. Same situation at home. Both DSL connections. Rest of the net zips away...)
Anyone from SC wanna yank mine? I couldn't.

Lots of man made objects or objects that are meant to be a particular shape of a letter, where are all the "nature" or one of a kind lucky timing photos? Were we really supposed to use a "D" hook or "S" hook or other manmade object? Hummmm guess several of us missed that and looked for nature to supply that special one of a kind "Letter".

Reread the rules:
The shape of letters can be found in nature and in other objects. Create an interesting photograph containing something which has the shape of a letter but wasn't intended to be one.
You get an F for not paying attention in class!!!

HUmmmmmmm, so is a metal ring made in the shade of a "D" ok since it's called a "D-Ring", or a metal object made in the shape of an "S" and called a "S-Hook" ok, or wooden braces on a door or table in the shape of a "Z" or "X" and called a "Z or X Brace" ok, or a piece of metal made in the shape of a "J" and called a "J-Hook" ok or a building built in the shape of an "A" and called a "A-Frame" ok, or cereal made of oats and made on the shape of an "O" and called "ChereOOs" ok? Hum so many things like bridge and construction items are made to look like letters and actually are named after them. Great job to all those who really found the "accidental" letters!! You have met the challenge!

i thought this was one of my better shots. No i did not spell out the letter in my title. was I supposed to? if you look you can find like 6 different letters in my shot. que frustracion. |

| This accidental letter is not so easily defined. Either nature or man made that were not meant to be letters. Avoid items made in the shape of a letter and then named after that letter. However, outside of this there are many man made shape that accidentally conform to the shape of a letter. All of these are open since what nature provides is very limited. The challenge does not restrict you to nature. |

Well, accidentaly the ppl that shot these kinds of pics ran out of ideas, and went for the "was made to have the shape of a letter, but is NOT a letter" type of shot.
EDIT: Right now i'm getting bombed at my score. I think ppl are voting it based on the "beauty" factor. Not actually seeing the "challenge" itself in it.......

I am in the middle of the road so far, but I have to say, although I have seen a few gems in the bunch, I have been a little disappointed so far. I think we need to remember that it is not enough to just find something that meets the challenge and snap a shot of it. A good entry should have overall appeal of some kind, and meet the challenge.
Graphicfunk - I am pretty sure I know which one is yours and it is one of the gems :) |

What's frustrating is, I had made up my mind that I was going to skip this one, as nothing throughout the week had caught my eye. Then in the last few hours the thought of not being able to obsess over the evil update button threw me into a panic and I desperately went out seeking an accidental letter, found one, put very little time in it in photoshop (approx. 5 min.) and then went to watch a movie with my husband. Now I come back to check my scores and see that it is sitting slightly above a 5, Now to the frustrating part, I spent all last week perfectly my pet portrait to what I thought was near perfection only to see it sit at a 4.8 for the first few days and now barely crawl to a 5, the lesson that I have learned is to not put any thought or effort into my shots whatsoever as it will only be a disappointment LOL, sorry to ramble on about this but I just need to get that off my shoulders LOL.

sheesh... mine is from nature and i am getting slamed, open up with 1 view and 1 vote to a 4.... has slowly climbed, but i dunno, im feeling the same as phantom.... very confused how people are voting here....... maybe there are a lot of people corresponding outside dpc and telling each other which is their's to get the votes up??......not just this challenge but all...

On the top left corner of your home page should be your stats, since you are not a payed member your stats will only update every hour, paid members have an update button than can hit at will. (I know that sounds like a good thing, but really it's not :-P )
