I could just picture the Pope coming to his window a saying "April Fools!"

CNN's website headline
Vatican: Pope in deteriorating condition

He has not passed yet.........
There's nothing on the TV, neither on the NET......

This is what I found on the Reuters site, which says that Italian media seems a bit confused:

Oh, God, NO! I would not joke about something like this. I feel for him too. Maybe I should start a rant thread, but this just highlights further the whole life support right to die thing. I personally feel that it is inhumane to keep someone alive for, oh, 15 years, when they can't live on their own and are completely "gone" anyway. Just because we have the technology, doesn't mean we should keep people's bodies alive well past when the person themselves is gone.

Like i said, it was on the CNN site as breaking news, then they pulled it. Apparently waiting for confirmation.

CNN Headline says they are getting conflicting reports, which means that someone has reported his demise. They said Reuters has reported that he had flatlined.

It's back on CNN, now changed to a denial.

"The 84-year-old's breathing was shallow and his kidneys were failing, a Vatican release said at about noon EST. His blood pressure was also deteriorating." -CBC

I'm watching CNN right now and that's all they're talking about. The Vaticant is denieing that he has died. I think they are just delaying.

According to the CIA World Fact book, the average death rate for the world is 8.68 deaths per 1,000 people; with a population (estimated) of 6.4 billion, that gives us 155,000 deaths per day by all causes, and almost 57 million per year.

155,000 people are going to die today.

Catholics the world over should be rejoicing instead of mourning because according to catholicism the pope gets to leave his physical body and is going to heaven today. That seems like a good reason to be happy instead of sad.

This post is in NO WAY trying to demean the Pope or the catholic religion. It's meant to put a positive light on a sad occasion.

When people are praying for the pope today, i hope they pray for the rest of the world too. I'm sure the pope is doing that, and has been doing that for many years.

That's official byt the vatican:

"The general conditions and cardio-respiratory conditions of the Holy Father have further worsened. A gradual worsening arterial hypotension has been noted, and breathing has become shallow," the Vatican press office said.

Is there anyway we can change the title?
Its not right to play with peoples emotions like this.
I understand that there was a mix up but cant we change it?

My sweet, dear grandmother was a devout Catholic whose lifelong dream was to meet the Pope. She passed in 1995 at the ripe old age of 96...and I know that she is waiting there in heaven to meet him today.

I like this post. I am not Catholic either, but I do have strong feelings that the Spirit is much better released when the body has done it's job and it's time to go has arrived. I hope Catholics and people in general can, while saddened by loss, can be happy that he will soon or has been released.

Maybe report the post so the admins can change it to something more of a question.

He has not died yet and this is no April Fool's Day joke. It just says that his condition keeps worsening.

My sentiments exactly. When my family goes to a funeral some of the people cry, but me and my brother, along with many of my cousins act like we are at a family reunion which in fact we are. After the funeral we go somewhere and eat good food and drink good wine. We laugh and have fun. It is a time of celebration.

We are Italian Catholics, or at least that is how we were raised. Not quite the stereotype from the movies, but that is how we are.

I re-named this thread "The Pope" since his death has not been confirmed.

Thanks, I didn't mean to jump the gun. Sorry everyone.
