I saw the poll before I saw this thread, I agree add both if possible now?

I was only the 9th to vote but I was surprised at the result so far.

A poll, how cool is that! Thanks!

The poll (and this thread) show that LCD people are more likely to reply to a thread, and CRT people are more likely only to vote to a poll. My conclusion is that CRT people are lazy.

I doubt you could gain any meaningful info from a poll on this. My Apple Cinema Display at home is an LCD, but the color accuracy is quite good, and there is no color shift at different angles like you'd see on most laptops. Similarly, there are both very good and very bad CRT monitors. It's a bit like trying to figure out overall car quality by asking whether you have an automatic or manual transmission.

I 'vote' on a CRT as it is the broadband conected 'puter. But, i do most of my PS work on the laptop with LCD as it is easier to get access as i can throw the kids or the wife off saying that i have 'work' to do. So it can be a surprise when i view my submissions on the CRT and find more colour. For instance in one of the challenges at the moment i deliberatly took a lot of the colour from my image and when i look at it now there is too much colour and it makes it look like a poorly saturated shot. Never mind, you live and learn.

hp pavillion f1903 LCD, when I get my graphics card I'll hook up the old CRT as well for comparison.

I use whatever's handy LCD, CRT, even TV (CRT). It's surprising the difference in image quality between the three.

Oh, not like the last poll then? :D

I post process and vote on a CRT. Maybe a nice followup poll would be to find out how many people have calibrated their LCD/CRT with a hardware calibration device.

Depends on where I am. At home I have a CRT (gave the lcd screen to my daughter) and at work it is a lcd.

This brings up a question I was thinking of earlier today. I have a picture that I want to upload for a challenge, it's a nighttime shot and has both very dark and very light components to it. I was looking at it on my laptop (LCD) screen and it gives the effect I was going for so I uploaded it. Then I looked at it on a cheap CRT and it was so dark that many parts of the picture weren't even visible. So I lightened it and re-uploaded. But now on my LCD screen again it looks washed out and has some noise. I can't decide which is worse. Any opinions? (I'd post the two versions to look at, but I'm submitting to a challenge so I can't.)

I thought CRT went out with the 90's... :)

I only use LCD or laptop.

I have five monitor/screen choices in this house. The eMac CRT beats everything hands down except for the Apple Display, and especially any laptop.

15" CRT for me...

Dude I got a Dell Laptop yesterday. SO now I'll be using both a LCD and a CRT. I just hooked up wireless so I'll likely use my laptop more.

what if you use both?

I use a CRT monitor. I don't like the LCD -- they look weird from an angle. And I don't think it's just the cheap ones because my brother in law just bought a really expensive LCD monitor for his computer and I was looking at the photos on here and didn't like it too much...looks muck more fake or something. oh...and no, we're not lazy ;-)
