Hey all, I just got my tax return, and I'm going to go out and get a 'walking around' point and shoot, just so I always have a camera with me. Consequently, I need something highly portable and not too shabby for shots, as well as not breaking the bank either. I'm seriously considering the Casio Exilim EX-Z50. Does anyone have any experience/opinions and/or insights on this or another good camera to tote around?

Thanks!

I'm hoping to sell my Minolta Dimage F300. Check it out. It'll be pretty cheap and come with memory.

Thanks... I'll check out the Fuji's before I buy, but I have a bias in that they use xD cards, and those things are just *too* small, you know? I'm afraid I'd lose the thing. :)

i have the canon a80 and i find its great to carry around, when i can't use the 10d... the picture quality is pretty good to and it has good and easy to use controls!

I have an Olympus Stylus300 in my pocket all the time and is inexpensive. Works well and is weather proof. I'm pleased with the results, but the flash generates lots of red eye.

Seems that as far as point & shoot goes, there's a lot of options. I liked the Casio because it's got a lot of pixels for the size and price, and it's very streamlined... the thing is almost invisible. Battery life is apparently good too, which is important to me.

Thanks for your feedback. The Canon a80 looks like it's an excellent camera, however it isn't as square, which makes me think it'd be harder to carry around.

I considered the Oly too... I read the battery life is somewhat lacking though, and the xD factor comes into effect again too... same as the Fujis.

If I get a camera that uses SD cards, I can at least use them for my PDA too. :)
