Interesting competition, with all the results online.
Definitely too America-centric for my taste, but there's still some great photography that we can all learn from and aspire to.
Most of the awards are given to a photographer with a series of photos in a portfolio, so it's interesting to see the consistency in a photographer's style and quality.
IMO the arts category is rather weak. :-(

Check out the magazine photographer of the year. The guy that came second had a clearly superior portfolio. Seems that the judging is somewhat politically motivated...

Nice to see some recognition going to photography that doesn't emphasize post processing quite so much, the genuine over the flawless to paraphrase thatcloudthere.
