I am pretty new to this game, but have noticed how images are enhanced if a border is added around them. I have got Paint Shop Pro on my computer. Does anyone know how I can learn how to add attractive borders to my photographs? I have tried, but my efforts look pretty poor and I feel that I could do with some help.

Thanks,

Anthony.

Which version are you running? There are a couple of ways to do it in PSP7, but the new PSP8 (free while in public beta) has a REALLY simple menu option to do it. Not to mention that there are a lot more user-friendly controls over color adjustment and the like in there. I would recommend getting the download... of course, then you just might become spoiled enough to actually want to BUY it when it's released :)

Paul,
I've seen a few posts relating to PS 8.0 Beta, however have been unsuccessful in finding a link or really any references to this. Are you sure the beta was/is public, and do you have a link?

It's available here.

Really all you need to learn is how to increase the canvas size and select the background color. Stick with simple stuff. You don't need to get all fancy with shadows and things.

Thanks for the feedback and link to PSP 8. That sounds like a great package from Jasc.

I use PSP 5 for my borders. It's just too easy. There is a menu option for Add Borders! How simple is that!

I find the simplest borders are by far the most effective. Take a look at the winning photos. If they have a border they are usually simple and very tasteful. I believe that even a great border will do nothing to improve a lousy photo. But that a simple border can make a decent photo look a lot more appealing.

I've got psp 5 from a magazine freebie - though 7 and 8 sound like they have some useful additions ... might have to try this beta.
