When taking a picture of an animal (in this case a dog) how can you get rid of the neon green eyes?

Do you have any image editing software and which one? That's the way to go...

I use th software that came with my camera. It has red eye reduction but since red eye reduction adds more green, it merely enhances the greenness.

Does the program have masking? You could change the hue of the eyes. Of course this method is not allowed in the basic challenges, but all right for advance, personal usage, etc.

Bud's Actions (zip file) on atncentral.com's site
Comes in a zip. Unzip it, then take the action and drag it over and drop in on the Actions tab in PS.

Thats the easy way out... These are just personal photos of my dog, and I live in a basement apartment, so the lighting sucks. I have no choice but to use flash.

Kelly, don't underestimate your camera...
Try setting the ISO higher. Try 200 or 400, should not deteriorate the image a lot.
Second, try opening up the aperture as wide as possible (smaller F numbers, i.e.f/4, f/2.8 or wider)
And third, increase the exposure time. You will be hand-holding it I assume, as chasing a dog in an apartment is not a tripod-friendly exercise, so try 1/20 or 1/30 of a second.

It should not be dark...
Post some photos if you'd like to get some critique.
