Most people HERE think I'm insane, THEY all want to go the other way... we are just digging out from the harshest winter in Cape Cod history, 95.5 inches of snow, it snowed and sleeted yesterday facripesake...
ONLY somebody who enters a raindrop as a self portrait would be contrary enough to retire from So Cal to the Northeast, I believe.

One of these days I will learn ot use PS to it's potential, but for the mean time, and as quoted in my profile page bio:

Ain't photoshop wonderful? This was a dance with Selective Color, a waltz I think. NO curves, NO contrast, NO levels, just selective color and the added contrast came from futzing with the black levels of the whites, blacks, and midtones. Plus some burning of the faded sky at the top, and finally some desaturation of the darker foreground hill. And oh, yeah, some cloning to eliminate bright details in that foreground area. No individual selections were used in the editing of this picture, nor were layers required, though I used them for organizational purposes.

| I love that little strip of land in the distance, it almost looks like a rainbow. I noticed it more in the 2nd photo you posted, I guess that was the original. Is there any way to make that stand out more? |

Or Alabama. We have some of the most scenic ocean cliffs you have ever seen. You get up early while the fog is still rolling off the moors and go down to the cliffs. Just as the sun come over the ocean fog and the golden red rays hit the cliffs you press the shutter button and you have just captured a small piece of magic. As you slowly make your way back towards home, strolling across the emerald green... oh - wait... that must have been somewhere else.

Don't mind at all. Thanks for the quick edits. I did a similar adjustment with just levels and curves first, but it just didn't do it for me when I thought of what the real place looked like.
I guess another lesson learned - I need to move to Ireland.

All is not lost, though time of day shooting has a huge impact.
Here is a 3-minute edit in PS using levels & curves, along with selective Blue & Cyan Black level increases to bring a little definition in the water:

| yea too much. try some curves to get any more pop...something I'm kind of learning as I go is that it often seems to be the case that undersaturation is generally a better mistake than over saturation. |

Here is the original. It just seems the colors of this place didn't quite come through on the camera because it was taken during mid-day sun.

I took this picture along the coast of Ireland last week. I tried to overdo the colors a bit to make it have some jump. (I liked the reds, so I ran with them, but I fear with scissors in hand.) Do you think it was too much?
