Nice picture. I like the B&W tones. The only critique I have is that the bottom part of the picture is out of focus. Maybe try using a smaller aperture (f8 or f11), should make the entire picture in focus. I also think that if you would of had running water coming from the spout with a long shutter speed, it would have made for a nice effect.

My 2 cents

BTW, why the long layoff?

I like the overall effect, and I do like the more limited DoF. The composition is pleasing and the contrast and tones are nice. The only thing that's a bit jarring for me is the tilt. I'd rather see it level...

I got a BFA in photography and totally burnt out in the process.
I got a little s45 about a year ago and the itch started back.

About november the itch got insane... I brushed off the F3 and FM and did a little shooting and haven't looked back...

Digital is soo much nicer!

I am learning my way around photoshop from a DP perspective (instead of graphics / typsetting totally different world)...

bottom line is ... I am having fun with photography again... !

As you said: bottom line - you're having fun with it.. So it is worth it.

The only thing that anoyes me about photografy is that I don't have the time to shoot as much has I want and don't have the money to have all the material that I desire. In conclusion I would love to live to photography and on photography.

i like the general atmosphere and the content. i also like the depth of focus that you use (if anything i'd like to see more contrast between what's in focus and what's not). that said, my eye really needs a place to go when i look at this. it jumps to the bamboo(which would look a lot better in crisp focus), follows the pipe down and to the right, and then it gets lost. in this particular case i'd experiment with lower angles and shooting the bamboo with water flowing out. i really really like the blurry B&W fence and stones in the BG. glad you're back at it, keep it up! -Daniel
