In trying to avoid kitties, children, and yawning (and because I was bored) I decided to look up boredom to get some ideas:

a "... unique psychophysical state that is somehow produced by prolonged exposure to monotonous stimulation"

boredom occurs when an individual's ability exceeds environmental demands

boredom occurs "...our attitude toward time is altered...Time seems endless, there is no distinction between past, present, and future. There seems to be only an endless present"

"the root of all evil. "

unengaged, detached, afloat in some private torpor

"Boredom is paradise"

Good luck on this one - there should be some interesting images.

Does this mean that if we are actually interested in a photo, we should vote it down for not meeting the challenge topic? heh

kidding kidding...

Just a question: in that challenge pics has to be bored or just show to the viewers the sensation of boredom???

Just an answer: maybe both lol :)

Try not to bore your audience, but depict boredom in your photo.

Seems clear enough. Take an interesting picture that conveys the essence of boredom. I can imagine, for one example, a person sitting at a computer in an office setting, staring vapidly at the screen, posture slumped and "lifeless". The work station would be by a window looking out on an interesting scene (a garden or parkland, perhaps), and the view would be in vibrant color while the the workstation/worker would be desaturated and lifeless. This would be a creative approach to the cocnept of boredom, to contrast the one state with the other.

I think a good shot of a child would look good for this challenge. I get tired of the "no children" comments. Uggh!

I think this might turn into another Passing time challenge. I was thinking about portraying something I do when Im bored, instead of showing the sensation of bordom. I then realized that my idea would become another "passing time" topic. When im bored, I wish for one thing, and that is for time to tick away..

are you staying inside the box? showing emotional boredom? or something you do when you are bored? either way..you probably good ,but to distinguish your photo from the recent passing time challenge, whatever activities shown in your photo should not be exciting at all.

BOREDOM = Having your first SLR (REBEL XT) with no lens and having to read the manual instead of playing with the thing.

Now that's boring....

Maybe I should be taking a photo of myself!

(Lens on there way though :-)

Heck, I went out this morning to shot for the "Stock Photo" and stumbled onto a nice image for the "Boring" challenge. I hope it has enough strength to make a good showing:)

Have you tried doing some pinhole photography with it in the meantime?

I've seen posted somewhere someone's efforts using the camera with a body cap on it, the body cap having a pinhole in it.

I'm stumped for this one. I am very rarely bored because I usually don't have any time to be bored. So I can't shoot soemthing personal and I keep thinking of cliche shots that depict bored but the shots themselves are so boring, who would even want to look at them. Catch 22.

I gave up and depicted someone doing something they were intensely interested in. I used the title to explain the boring alternative.
