karin--what photo program are you using?

you need to open it in a tool any tool (freeware irfan view) can do that and save it reducing the quality of the jpg, usually you have either a pop up window or a 'option' command button.

The software you got with your camera has that option. In zoombrowserEX, when you do save as , you have a quality setting. You need to test until you find the right quality that will give you below 150. Photoshop has a nice feature that evaluate for you the size while you select the quality.

Welcome

HI there,,,I can use Adobe Photoshop (I'm new at that program too!) or Zoombrowswer? I'd like to enter these contests regularly so I'd like to learn and utilize the best and most efficient method. Thanks so much for the replies!

well, you will get conflicting opinions on this one, but--i just use the "save for web" option which allows you to choose your own setting. it ususally falls around 80+, but usually even higher for black and whites! hope this helps!

581K seems pretty big for a JPEG. Do you have the right resolution? My email is on my profile, you could send it to me, and I can try.
