My original idea was to find a tire swing somewhere. I poked around, but couldn't find anyone who knew where one was... so I invented one. I trudged through the woods along a river about 20 minutes from home, and I constructed a tire swing from a tire that had been in my garage and my neighbor's rope.
After spending a few hours on it, I just wasn't impressed with the result enough to post it, so I went a totally different direction. But, given that I spent that much time & effort on it, I would be very interested in hearing what others might have voted :)

I like #2 better, but the main problem I see is that a tire swing by a body of water needs to be over (a significant depth of) water to be effective and safe. |

i actually prefer 1. the dappled watter and sillhouetted tire give me the feeling of endless summer days playing outside.

Yep... I think that's a very good point. That never actually crossed my mind, but I think it's one of the subconscious things that turned me off the idea. BTW, I really liked the "Swimming Hole" shot by bobgaither... that seemed to capture the spirit of what I was shooting for. |

I should also note that I got some REALLY odd looks from people as I unpacked a tire and a rope out of my car in a parking lot, and wandered off into the woods with them. I couldn't help but wonder if some of the people there were tempted to call the authorities :) |

I think tire 1 speaks volumnes and is very good.... but I really liked your submission!

I was looking a #2 and I was thinking: should you have taken the lead weight off of the tire? I sure wouldn't let kids play with that! BTW, I liked #1 better. The lighting just seems more....good-er(A term that all kids use...) |

Good eye -- that never even occurred to me! |

I like tire 2 but you have a counter weight on the tire and tire is too new. I don't know about the tires. That what my wife asked me on my picture, where is the tire? We had either a Tarzan swing or just a regular like swing with a board. That was for the deep holes that we built the swings. We would mainly damn up the river with a rock dam because the water level was low from being used for irrigation. We would then jump or dive off of the railroad tracks into the water. |
