Wow! That's beautiful. It gave me chills! Her voice is clear as a bell and the cinematography is so evocative. Thank you so much for sharing.

I am so pleased that you enjoyed this.

Mum died 4 years ago and by pure coincidence, I came across this wonderful recording on "Mother's day". I cried as only a 50 year old can when I first listened to it.

Thanks for commenting

My old music teacher taught me that the best "music" is made when a simple tune is played beautifully. I think that this truth applies to all art...including the one that we share here.

Thanks for the hug.

She has an amazing voice! We used to sing that song at school many moons ago too :) Kiri te Kanawa does a good opera version of it as well, have you heard it?

I love the movie. I rented the DVD, recommended it to all my friends and bought it to see it again. I wish they would show it on screen here. It was an amazing experience to sit through the movie. Fantastic film indeed.

Did you feel a little blurry eyed when she was giving her speech on the stage?

On the topic of Kiwi music... These guys (Fat Freddys Drop) have got to one of the best bands coming out of NZ right now.. i think they just toured Europe late last year, and got a huge response in Germany... perhaps cause there seems to be heaps of Kiwis over there (if this site is anything to go by).
