Good question. Maybe I can get involved on that. What kind of card does the camera take that she bought? I have plenty of compact flash cards sitting around.

We do it because we're good people and we hope that in a similar situation others would do the same for us. It's about lifting others up when they can't do it for themselves. I've got a $20 on the table - just tell me where to send it.

I just noticed that the seller on eBay has a Digital Rebel 350XT for sale. I didn't know they were shipping yet. ?

i used to play quake, and was in a clan ( team ) - my graphics card was not up to the task of the game. the folks i played with pitched in and sent me a nice top end graphics card because they knew i liked the game, and couldn't afford one myself.

i since have passed the card on to someone else who needed an upgrade.

kindness is everywhere - you just have to be a kind person to find it...

if there is a way to pitch in outside of the dropcash thing, i'll do what i can.

keep smiling ;}

It took less than 12 hours from Lisa's initial post to repace her camera with a new one. What a great site!

Cor....

I've just got up, and with time Zone differences the fund-raising was over before I got up!

So I missed putting some money in, but I've still got a warm fuzzy feeling about all of this.. Oh, hang on, that might be the coffee speaking.

Anyway, I'll just repeat what a few other folks have said. It's great to see this community pulling together, give yourselves all a pat on the back.

Cheers, Chris H.

Ditto - I missed the giving, but I'm willing to help others.

Yes indeed... and it is folks like yourself that make it so.

Having spent 30 years in the police force I had over time become somewhat disillusioned by society as a whole, but DPC has rekindled an exhuberance that was far too long dormant.

Thank you all for everything.

Jason - some day when you're reading the forums, maybe you'll notice a registered user who really can't afford memebership but who really contributes in a positive way to the site and the world of photography. Gift memberships are a wonderful thing to give . . . . you will smile every time you see that person online. Just a thought to keep in mind. I know what a caring person you are.

HI
This site really is something. Ian all my years on the net o have never been a member of such a nice club. Not only are members willing to go without a few luxurys like a soda, pint, paper for a day or two in order to give money in a collection for someone that they may not have met in person. But they do it without a second thought.

Just over 12 hours passed and the money was raised for a fellow member in need. Well done to all. it shows that there are still people in the world who put others before themselves.

When my membership needs to be renewed i will be buying a gift membership for someone who needs it.

Thanks

Didn't know that. If anyone has a spare perhaps you might want to send it to her. If I order one now I just know they will come at different times and slow down the shipping. I think Lisa should be able to get one for herself down under and save the extra shipping. I don't think they cost that much. In the meantime the camera has internal storage so she can use it the day it gets there.

I'm game! I'll donate! Just holler when it gets figured out to where!

Only 1 hurdle that I can think of and that is the power difference from the USA Vs Australia.

An adaptor may be required to plug it in for recharge and I'm not sure if the USA type are available here. We can buy the ones for Aussie to USA but not sure if USA to Aussie are available.

Ooop..just made it to the end of the thread...I spoke too soon! If someone decides to open a 'pot' for people in need I would love to donate!

I'm new and read more than I participate. Mainly because I wanted to 'feel' it out beforehand and make sure I didn't get hammered :)

This place has been wonderful!

For those just getting up and reading this post, a new one has been started to form a more concrete foundation. Read the Cameras for everyone post to catch up.

Sorry I did not get my five in, in time. I had to upload to my papal account today and it should post in 3 days or so. My five is still there to help out in any way [to cover shipping, cost of services, etc.] or for anything else that comes up. nsbca7 please let me know what you would like me to do because I said I would participate and I want to keep my word. Thanks again for coordinating this.

Wow! You guys are amazing. I don't check the threads for a day and in the time I'm gone you buy someone a new camera and start a donation venture.

This really is the finest group of people that have never met each other. I'm proud to be a member of this group.

Ohmigod, I have just read through this thread. You guys are all just amazing. As debitipton said. Off for a day, and look at everything that's happened.
A fine group of folks if I ever saw one.
