No, not a rant - a game. Has anyone played it? I'm downloading it now!

My son downloaded it on his computer. I just asked him and he said it is good. He loves games like that and IF he says it's good, it must be because he is very critical of games.

I'm sure it's been developed more in the last couple of years since I originally tried it but at that time I thought it was rather slow and boring.

I played it a year or so ago...it was ok, nothing spectacular.

I have 50%, I'll post my small report in the coming days. It sounded great when Time reviewed it and I def have a fast enough machine to play top speed.

I just deleted it - it installs some software that gives the govt the entire right to scan your hd, find whatever they want, etc. Bleh! I can't deal. I read the license and felt big brother-ish. I'm not putting that stuff on my puter for a dumb game.

Its a really good game for the Price FREE.
I play a lot on the bridge and have my honor up to 37.
The only down side to it is cheaters and updates that effect servers and game play. These usually get fixed over time.

don't you wonder where the game data is being logged?

i downloaded it, played a couple times, and removed it from my machine.

wow....I just read it....the language does allow them to read any file on your computer or in your memory. That seems a bit excessive.

I liked it but I had problems with it. Whenever it tried to access the internet it would cut off internet access to all computers on my home network and I would have to reboot my router to get it working again. Weird.

For a free game you just cant beat it.

I played for several months and really enjoyed it. Like any game there is a burn out factor.....but its well worth the download.

What first hooked me on this game was the training. A lot of people said they wouldn't play it just because you have to train, that along with no re-spawns, and great chances to use teamwork... yeah I love this game.

The government can snoop around on your computer anyway... a little licence agreement ain't gonna really change anything. lol

Yes, but with permission to snoop, they can use it against you in court. Without permission, they can just figure out WHO is doing bad things, but can't do much about it.

I use to play it alot when it first came out. I have not played it in quite some time though. They have updated it a lot since I played.

I do remember there were some hacks floating around that gave some players super powers. Not sure if they came up with a way to solve it or prevent it?

I remember reading the articles when it first came out. I do believe it said the Army spent about $10 million to start it up as a trial program for their recruitment. Now I do believe they have set up thier own servers and everything to operate it.

You could also set up your own server in house to run and play games across the internet. I had one set up in my house and had it listed on the Army Ops server list. Do they still have this option?

The one game/map I did like was where you were a paratrooper and you had to jump from a plane to take out a helicpter from a camp adajcent to a corn field. Most of the time it was a masacare for the team jumping into the corn field. Once you hit the ground you had to start making your way to the copter. The last time I looked at it they added a lot of fog to the game/map and it was more difficult.

I personally don't mind, because it is most likely a way to keep terrorists from using it to train. It is the most realistic combat sim out there, I know that I don't want a bunch of terrorists playing it and utilizing our resources to learn what to actually do in a firefight,(which they currently have no clue about.)
