I fell for the ole didn't quite read the description on this one...drove around for a day looking for billboards...you know what billboards are nearing extinction here in San Diego...they are allowed only on certain thoroughfares...

Never did enter the challenge...

Doh!

I took a break from my update button for a couple of weeks (a combination of disappointing challenge results and little time to shoot). I finally got some time and enthusiasm back this weekend and entered two challenges. Back to updating...

damn...need to coordinate those break better...can't afford to take off the same time you do ;-)

No, Cheryl, I don't think you're interpreting that rule correctly. No text may be "added" to your submission unless there is a waiver for a specific challenge. If the text is part of the original shot, then the shot is legal and not considered "added." As you start to see some of the entries with text be validated by the Site Counsel, you should vote these entries as legal, because, according to the people who make the rules, they are.

i havent even voted and i never said it was illegal, i know that if you take a pic of something that has text you can use..everyone is complaining about the freaking text, i dont have text..my title explains my photo..but some of the photos looks like it has been added..thats what my question was
02/28/2005 10:59:13 AM · #58
Ok. No worries. It's all good. I'm just waiting on a DQ request on my own photo (which has text), but I believe I shot it according to the rules. I've received several comments about the inclusion of text from individuals and I hope I'm not getting voted down for it. I guess I should have submitted for a Administrator's Note before voting started.

Even when you see these images being validated, most people who voted them down for having text, won't go back and revisit their vote. Sad but very true. Maybe we need a mechanism to prevent voting on an image until it's validated. Obviously, the innocent until proven guilty thing isn't working.

Well thanks for asking. :)

Maybe someone from Site Council should remind people about voting for images that aren't yet validated also.

On a good note........there are some fantastic interpretations here. This challenge really seems to be characterized by creativity rather than technical perfection. Good to see the other side of the brain getting a workout this time around.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure mine will fall further, but I think the shot is hilarious, some people might find it offensive...thats ok though.

I guess you're right, and that's indeed very sad.
If I see a photo that I thought should be DQed and I voted it down but it got validated - Not only that I fix my voting, I tend to vote higher on it.
IMO if someone was talented enough to actually fool me like that, they deserve more!!!

Actually I requested two DQs for text added. but somehow I doubt any of them was yours.
And in any case, I try to vote on them as if they were valid, but I will check for them again to see what happens later and fix my vote accordingly.

This billboard challenge has many great shots! It's so much fun looking at the results! There are so many creative ideas; what an amazing variation of minds.

See we are all different - I think it houses some of the worst shots in recent challenges.

And where does it say it HAS to be 640x320? Two of my three comments are about the ratio, nothing about the shot, just that's it's NOT the right size?

And people are wondering why I haven't worked so hard on the photography lately
