I took a picture today for the candid photo that really looks like it's a candid because the backround has things in it that takes away from the picture. I can crop the thing that takes away from the picture out but then the shot looks more set-up like it's not a candid. Any suggestions on what to do??

Simple is usually better. If you have a subject that says something then you might not need background distractions just to prove it meets the challenge.

Of course, I haven't seen your picture, so what do I know.. ?

I cropped mine very close..hopefully people will realize picts are cropped, not think you were standing closer and it's not a candid shot.

I was very close to my subject for my picture. Just because the people know you're taking a picture of them (I asked the people around me whether or not they'd mind me shooting) doesn't mean the shot isn't candid.

So I hope that people don't care how close the shot is or isn't. *grin*

Hugh? If they know you are shooting, how can it possibly be candid?

I've been aware of people shooting around me, but I have NO idea if I'm in any of their photos. I supose there are a LOT of "candid" photos of me out there. I like to go to ren faires and it's a given that people are around me taking photos, and I am aware of them, I just don't pay them any mind.

Very easy -- candid does not mean that you're subject is unaware that you're taking the picture. Candid simply means that the subject hasn't been posed. However, I'm sure that many voters won't see it that way -- undoubtedly they'll think it has to be candid camera with a subject who is completely oblivious to the fact that a camera was ever even pointed at them.
