What is all that white stuff on the ground?
02/20/2005 11:11:11 AM · #4
That white stuff is called snow, its like ice cubes but smaller. Give me your address scottwilson and I'll send you some in the post. You won't get much where you live, it'll be a novelty!

Forgive my ignorance soup but NV is short for what?

Here's another view from this mornings little shoot.

That is called a garden, Blackdog!

Either Ground Force came in over night and did a makeover? Or someone moved your house into a garden. They didn't do a very good job tho, someone forgot to colour it in! Fancy leaving it all white like that, gonna be a bugger to keep clean!

Garden? Where are the corn and tomatoes???? Looks more like an uncolored landscaping demo setup. And there's no way thats snow, if that was snow (at least as were used to it) none of that vegetation stuff or that mini-pond would be showing, nor the fences.....

Burlington as in...

Yeah must be white there a lot of the time.

yeah that looks like burlington.

across the lake is the white mountains of New York.
it's lake champlain - pretty large lake - but getting pretty overrun with pollution, and algae blooms. problem with correcting things with the lake is it's partly new york, vermont, and quebec canada's waters, so rules are hard to implement.

That would be the Adirondack Mountains then, is that correct?

When you said New York it threw me for a minute, a quick look at my atlas and I realised you were referring to New York State.

If you say New York to anybody here in the UK they immediately assume you mean the city.

I think its fascinating to find out about places around the world from other DPC members.

Thank you soup for educating me about your part of the world.

In the interest of geographic education, the White Mountains are in New Hampshire. The white mountains west of Lake Champlain would be part of the Adirondack Mountains (which cover a very, very large area).

It's not just UK folks who think "city" when we New Yorker's say where we're from--most of the world has no idea how large the state is. In fact, a fair number of people who live in NYC have no idea. For example, I live 3 1/2 hours highway drive west of NYC yet I'm still another 3 1/2 hours drive East of Buffalo/Niagara Falls, NY. (Or about 200 miles from each.) Fact such as this come as a surprise to more than a few people.

There's about a good 6 inches of that outside my window right now and we're expecting another 4-6" tonight. But then again I do live in Canada so it's just to be expected.

Yes, I do. Not very impressive though. Snow is hard to do justice to.

Ahhhh....yeah, White Face. Makes sense now. (You're forgiven for misplacing the NH mountains.) :)
