I'm working on some new images for my portfolio and I need some help. These are the first two of a four part series; so what is working and what is not working. How can I improve these images?

Thanks!

I do like these two photos - here are my thoughts:

Male - distracting lighting on forehead and around eyes.
Female - shadows just a touch distracting, and base of chair/legs/feet cut off.

Yes, the photos are very good.

Same as Ian, lighting needs work on both images: Male - Face, Female - Lighting is good on the subject , but, as Ian noted, shadows are a little distracting.

Poses for both are great, props are very nice and color is great.

My 2cts:
I'm going to swim against the current a bit. I like the lighting on the male's face. It creates a dark mood, which I think is what you (or at least the model, given his expression) were going for. The reflection off his shoulder is what distracts me. Also, I think cutting off just a part of his arm & shoulder doesn't work. Go more or go less.

As for the female, I like the shadows. Take them away, and you get more of a flat image. I do agree that more of the chair & her feet would help.
