It is interesting to me that a shot that I find appealing is pulling a 3.95 right now. (It is not an offensive shot, just very different - Artsy.)

I am curious if any of you have found yourself in this position? Show me your ART that was judged to be TRASH.

I was really excited about this, and it got totally hammered, 141st of 185 in new ground. I couldn't believe it finished that low:

I really liked that one and voted it a 7. I think voters were very harsh in that challenge.

These are two shots which first made me realise that sometimes one can totally misunderstand the masses! Don't get me wrong, I don't claim them to be masterpieces but I still don't see the negatives pointed out in commments and indicated by the votes.
: )

score: 4.9

score: 3.9

OK, I shared this before, but...

I shot this for the Oct Free Study. I thought I was being creative and using negative space in an exciting way, ect, but it bombed.

This was intended as a fun shot for the Night Shot II, but it just got ripped in this thread:

I thought it would be fun, because the week of the challenge, there was no full moon. But, no one picked up on it. Afterwards, some people were kind of cranky about my creative license!

i dedicate these roses to all the creative souls who were hammered down
while expecting blue skies but still stand to the creation they submitted
(got a few myself...f.e. i was extremely satisfied with my 'Light' challenge submission and it nearly hit the brown ribbon)

Not that I'm complaining, I personally thought this shot was pretty good...at least better than 179/221...

I thought this was an original and "hard to reproduce" shot...but yeh, the bird is blurry, what can I do? and fine, I need a shave, but damnit...I didn't actually expect him to bite me also! lol :-p

Not a challenge entry but would certainly "brown" if it was. Everyone who has seen it...hates it.

But I love it!

i blew this on the editing; i didn't know enough about editing to bring myself out in this image, and as it was cropped too tight, most people missed the mirror...

here, i just didn't know what i was doing and didn't allow enough time, and the scoring showed

luckily/unfortunately, i figured it out the next day

I think this was a "you had to be there" image. I was so cold, the blue on the marble is the actual color of pre-dawn. And the warm light coming through the windows was so inviting to me. Probably entered it in the wrong challenge too. I still really like the image.

My whole abstract portfolio applies, if you look at rank ordering in the challenge and relative scores!

150 out of 241, 38th percentile but now 10 favorites:

My personal favorite image of my abstracts, despite the score, to me it was a milestone Zeuszen really liked it (and he's a very selective voter):

5.454, 70 out of 185,the 63 percentile but 4 favorites

I guess when the topic is something non abstract, I can't expect these to do well, but I really thought when the challenge was abstract, I could pull a top 10 out of this (and a number of commenters thought it should be:

57 out of 208, 73rd percentile but 8 favorites

But I've learned it doesn't matter (trying to learn that anyway). When people say nice things and select them as favorites, I consider them a success, whatever the score.

I still love both of these photos, neither one well received by voters. Though "The Tourist" has been favorited by three since its challenge ended. That made me feel better. :)
