Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good AA NiMH battery charger? I have a cheapo-charger now that takes the batteries overnight to full charge (although it says it is a 3-hour charger), the indicator lights are never accurate (it claims that my batteries are fully charged fifteen minutes after putting drained cells in), and worst of all the charged batteries only seem to last me a half-hour to and an hour of shooting!

I've heard rave reviews of the Maha 204F charger and their line of PowerEx NiMH batteries... but there seems to be a multitude of other choices as well.

Also, on another (completely seperate) note: can anyone here recommend a decent printer for under $150? This printer would be primarily a work printer (printing b&w reports, memos, etc.) but I would also like the capability to print the occasional color photo. Quality and speed are more important than price per page to me as I don't print all that often.

Thanks!

Sohr,

I actually did surprisingly well picking up a charger at Radio Shack.... they have an 8-cell negative-pulse charger for about $30-35 (I forget the exact price). The negative-pulse charger is the one to get because it prevents crystals from forming in the battery and extends its life.

I also picked up a 4-cell NiMH charger that plugs into my car cigarette lighter there for about $28.

Sohr,
I have one of these. I checked into them before I got mine and it had excellent reviews. It charges the batteries in a couple of hours. I bought a second set of 4 batteries for around $10. Mine works great. No complaints.

The Epson 820 is a good printer for the price. It is right at $100. CompUsa just had a special that ended Saturday. Buy the printer for $99 and they send you a $25 gift card. So maybe lookout for that. Maybe they will have that offer agian.

I have a rayovac PS4 one hour charger. It costs $30(bought at target). I read that it is the proper kind of charger because it does not over charge, and it charges individual cells?(i think).
One hour is essential - the others take overnight.
I just bought a Epson C60 printer. It was rated a best buy in consumer reports. It was very cheap($50. after rebate). It is quite noisy, and I have not tested its ability to print photos yet.
Epsons were rated higher than other brands.
