Did I say, "Time to Punt?" Actually, I meant Time To BUMP!

Here's the deal. I haven't got a prayer of coming withing 30 spots of 1st place on the "LIGHT" challenge. But I do like my photo.

YOU, (yes, you!) have an opportunity to bump my photo,
AND, in doing so, boost my sense of well-being.

You know the photo, the one that's in absolutely no danger of winning anything...but wasn't so bad when you think about it.....

Your vote counts towards my self-esteem--but it won't change the outcome of the challenge, the SuperBowl, or anything else that matters to the rest of the universe. It will only matter to me.

So, dig down deep in your pockets. Look one more time at those 5's and 4's you gave and ask yourself, does Kadi deserve the 4 I gave her? Does any of my fellow DPC'ers really deserve the low mark I gave while contemplating the "Pain" challenge?

Just one point! I'm not asking for you to liquidate your child's college fund. I'm asking for the price of a smile...

...can you do it? Your contribution means more than you will ever know.

(thank you)

Get ready to break out the smiles.... I for one will give you a minimum of a 6... how's that for a start?

Thank you! Given your name, I can only guess that a 4 is your highest compliment! May you always have a 4 when it matters most to you!

Freeloader!

Beginning to feel like a public radio station here!

Gone up at first--whoo hooo!

...no danger at all of going too high!

All I'm asking here is for one more point.

One more point! ONE more point! ONE MORE POINT!!!!!

Well, I'd really like to bump, but there's no time and the quality of the monitor I'm currently using isn't the best.
But please go ahead and bump mine - it's the one I didn't enter.

Good luck KaDi. I'm currently getting slapped by last minute voters...who apparently are rushing through the lot dishing out whatever their mouse lands on. :-/

Sorry to hear! They just don't understand us! (Someone actually said my snow looked dirty in the other currently-being-voted challenge!)

I loved your photo! And now that I know which one it is....I can say I gave it a very high score. I liked the black background against the crystals and the way the light is filtered. Kind of a "cave" atmosphere too. Great job!

Judging from my first submission into a challenge and from this post not a lot of people are like me. I feel that there is a lot of talent on this website. After voting on the "three" and "old and new" challenges. (I voted and commented on every image) I didn't see any bad photos in those challenges or on this website so far. I personally didn't and never will rate anything under a five. To me every picture has potential. If I take a picture of my kids it will mean more to me than "Joe or "Cindy"(just random names used). Therefore when I vote or comment on a image I try to visualize what the photograph means to the photographer. Just my two cents!!!!! Keep up the excellent work EVERYBODY.

For an example to my complaint. And I hope the photographer doesn't mind me using her as an example. Look at the voting on this picture. To me this picture means nothing. To the photographer and people like her though it means everything. This woman has survived something that not a lot of people can say they have done. I can tell this photo means everything to her because of the title. Because I am proud of the fact that she can say this and that she has went on with her life is a great thing and I applaud her for it. Hence the reason I gave it an 8. Not only is the picture of good quality but she has taken something that means a lot to her and shared it with us here.

Message for rubyrednails---I am happy that you are still her to share your visions with us. Please continue to do great work. Never give up.

Surprised to see this silly thread of mine revived!
Thank you for the kind comments. As it turns out 43% of the votes received were above 5. But I also, always hope to achieve better than the 50th percentile--which I didn't quite make this time.

It was interesting to see bear_music's outake in another thread!

Guess it was just that kind of week in the Eastern U.S. where one couldn't help but notice (and try to capture) the luminescent quality of ice.

Thank you. I just wish people would take the time to look at the photographs here and get in the mind of the photographer before voting.

Just a bump for everyone to see my point of view. Maybe I should just post in the rant forum.....sorry KaDi

I hope I helped prove your point, Rex :o)

You did. Sorry if I went off the deep end everyone. Sometimes it happens. Just so you know I put this in the rant forum because I felt I posted in a forum I shouldn't have. Deapee posted that it is wise for photographers not to be too attached to the subject if they want to please the mass majority of people. I totally agree. I am a perfectionist to some sort and would never enter a picture of my kids into a challenge or something I didn't think was a 8 or better in my mind. I might want to watch what I say though, I might get that picture of my kids that I just can't resist to enter into a challenge.

Though I have only been a member of this website for only a month the majority of people here are kind in their words. (good or bad) I have found a great community of photographers that seem to be willing to help anyone that is willing to listen.

For anyone wondering....Rex's rant is over here:
Rex's Rant Thread

Didn't mind your hi-jack at all, Rex. When you've hung around awhile you'll notice that lots of us have felt as you do now (and may still feel that way). Came as a complete surprise to me (once upon a time) that some folks would cast their vote before the image had loaded. Since I have a preference for "portrait" orientation on my photos that meant that people never saw the bottom of my image! Really nasty in the case of images like this one I entered in "broken":

Rant on. Rail against the night!
