Hi,

We are having quite a interesting time here in Geneva, last night we had winds of upto 100 km/h with temperature of -6 C, make for some wonderful natural ice sculptures. All were taking early this morning (27.01.05)

Ah, now THAT's a blast from the past for me. I lived in Geneva from 1957 to 1961, at 15 Rue Michel Chauvet in a modern apartment building fronting on Malagnou. Is that the backside of the Saleve I'm seeing in the background in a couple of the pix? I remember so well spending the day up there, riding home in the gathering dusk, through the border and past the boulangerie, where we'd pick up bread and sweets for my mother. We'd take our bicycles up the top on the teleferique, hang out all day, and then ride down the gap between Petite Saleve and grand Saleve, whooshing around the switchbacks, a real thrill ride.

Tell me if I've got it right, these are dredged-up memories. Is my building still there? 7 stories high, swimming pools on the roof... There were 2 of them, if I recall correctly...

And oh, yeah.. Nice pix, amazing ice-forms.

Robt.

Amazing shots - I have seem it same/similar.
Small world too - I lived there from 1962-1966 in the Grand Saconnez area.
(19 Chemin du Pré-Carbeux to be exact).
My Dad was the Int'l service manager for Piper and managed to see pretty much most of Europe too by the time I was 10 years old. We were dumped right into the Swiss school system and was a learn the language as you go kinda' thing. Good thing my 1st grade teacher spoke English.
Still remember my phone number, as it was the first phone number I ever memorized. To this day, I do not know it from memory in English, but have to mentally translate it: 34-95-19 LOL
Thanks for the blast from the past.
