Its fine if people want to say positive or negitive things about a photo (that is what we are here for), but to say negative things about a model I feel is just ridiculous. What we are all supposed to get the prettiest people with the best bodies to model for us? Because silly me thought this was real life.

I have never had anyone that would even model for me :(

I know what you mean. I've got the same thing before when posting photos from shoots I've done.

I have a may-be model
//www.vickilynn-model.com/ - the girl on the left, i work with her. D lutz is her husband, a D100 weilding photographer.

Whether she'd work for free (my going rate) or not I'm not sure.

i agree - one should not pick on the model. Unless maybe the photographer is the model...LOL

My issue is, I am my own model in all of my entries. I don't have people to come in for me, so I make do and do my best. I don't appreciate comments about my, when the idea is to comment on the actual photography. If that sucks, well sure comment on it, but I don't think anyone should ever say negative things about a model nor shuold that really affect how they vote (I cant say if that happened this time).

Sorry if I'm missing something here, but I've just looked at the pictures of you in your portfolio and you're a beautiful gal...what's the problem? Who could say anything bad about you?

you would have to see the pic to get it. But thank you :)

I don't take commens on my appearance to heart from strangers, but I don't think its fair if I am scored on it. Its just not appropriate really.

It would be liking telling someone that they dont like the photo of a girl, because her nose is too big or because she has a huge mole on her check. That stuff is just not important here ya know.

If the comment/scoring came from a woman I would probably say to chalk it up to envy...and if it were from a man, then I would say chalk it up to envy as well...of your significant other. :)

As the model, you are part of the photograph, and something that some people will not find appealing and some people will, as with any model or any prop. Whether you like it or not, not everyone finds everyone else attractive, and if people don't like the overall appeal of a photo they will vote it lower.

If they vote it low without a reason, people say they want a reason. When they give a reason, people rarely like it.

If someone doesn't like a photo because someone's nose is too big, then thats a fair enough reason not to like it if that person doesn't like big noses. The same goes for moles. It's just like voting down a non-appealing landscape because there are too many telephone poles. I judge on the overall appeal of a photo, and if the model is not appealing to me, then I can't vote it as highly as a photo with a model that is appealing to me. That's why I would vote any photo of my girlfriend a 10 :)

PS: Please don't bite my head off for saying this, I'm just giving my opinion like you are giving yours.

Thats fair enough and I understand that. I don't want to give away anything about my photo, but you would understand what I mean if you read the comment and saw the photo.

But I have 7 comments now in only so many hours and I am really getting fantastic responses to my photo, probably some of my best ever comments.

And I don't think that that person marked me down anyway for it, as I only had a few votes at the time and the score didn't change much.

:)

As someone in the same boat, I feel your pain. But, ultimately, I want to believe that for every DPC commenter expecting to see "professional-grade" models, there is a more sophisticated person looking for something less bland and more "real." Keep modeling and keep shooting -- you and your work are great!

I definitely agree that people shouldn't INSULT the model - that's just unecessary.

But I wouldn't have a problem if someone said to me that they didn't find an image of mine appealing because they didn't find my model appealing. That's valid comment and valid opinion.

It's all in how it's said, I think.
