Shannon, howzabout ya sticky this puppy? It's been repeatedly bumped now for 2 years. I'd say that indicates continuing interest.

Well I need to update it and make a tutorial. I have actually learned a thing or two in the years since I wrote it.

(Like the consequences of resizing twice in Minimal Editing) :-P

I dunno why people listen to Shannon, like he knows how to win a ribbon, he only got about 40 of them :P

Seriously though, some wisdom in this thread and a tutorial would be good but mainly I just suggest people stick with their styles and mainly enter stuff they like first and foremost and the rest will follow. Endlessly trying to please the masses just hunting for a ribbon will not get you far and I still do not know what makes a winning photograph just that after spending more than 2 years here. I have submitted shot´s that I thought would score a 5.4 and got a 7.4 and the exact opposite so go figure...

See, he pulls out this kinda junk to try to make us think ribbons aren't important... It's very obviously his way of keeping the competition limited a little bit so that HE can keep winning ribbons...

So, either the stuff HE likes wins ribbons or he's just a ribbon hog.

Sorry, Larus, you asked for it. :P

HAHAHAHAHAHA OMG that is freaking funny. You know what people do that. hahahahahaha

Yes indeed, Its even harder with the Brown I think it takes extra ordinary talent to come up week after week to produce such reults in a new and fresh manner, that the voters will truly despise .

Thanks for this! I read it when Spiff pointed it out but I just read and digested it now! I appreciate it (added it to my watched threads for future reading)

The principles behind this post are great ones to keep in mind. DRATS...got to rethink Mythical Creatures now since I shouldn't use my chihuahua or Barnie the stuffed toy! ;)
