ok, so I have some CHRISTmas cash and I was wondering what is the best macro lens for the D70. I just got it and I miss my macro lens. I have an old k mount macro lens, what would I have to do to use that on my new d 70? |

I don't know about the K mount but I and several other people have the Sigma 105mm F/2.8 Macro and I'm pretty happy with it. I know they just came out with a 150mm F/2.8 also. |

I don't know the answer to what is the best one but there is a rebate on the Nikkor lenses. Here is the pdf file address from Nikon that says which lenses and camera etc have rebates.
//www.nikonusa.com/fileuploads/pdfs/slr_rebates.pdf
ends on Dec. 31st

What about the Nikon 50mm 1.8D which you can use with a reversing ring to get close ups? |

I have the Nikkor 60mm Macro and I absolutely love it. I couldn't ask for anything more from a lens. |

This is the solution that I will use until I can afford a Nikkor 105mm Micro

Have you thought of just getting a couple of close up lens instead? Way cheaper than a macro lens! I use Hoya +1/+2/+4

If you plan to own one (1) macro lens for your D70, the AF MICRO Nikkor 60mm 1:2.8D is from my opinion the best buy you can do. |

My reason for choosing the 105mm in preference is that I have the 50mm 1.8 and want the 105 to double up as a portrait lens (60mm is not much difference to 50mm)
If I did not already have the 50mm then indeed I would certainly go for the 60mm micro
