I'm not going to say much about any of the forums that are going on about this topic ... I will provide some information to help you out Glass_Slippers...

Coolpix 3200 Manual PDF Link

Now, please look over this for future reference and take note to ...

- Manual Page 4 - "Date not set" icon . . Icon Appears when camera clock has not been set.
- Manual Pages 14-15 - Basic Setup - Initial Setup
'If you exit without setting time and date, Icon ("date not set") icon will flash in monitor when camera is in shooting mode and all pictures
will have time stamp of "0000.00.00 00:00" (still images)or "2004.01.01.00:00" (movies).'

So take a peek at the manual ... hope that helps ... better late than never.

Nobody on Site Council takes pleasure in DQ'ing photos, and we know that there are plenty of people who make honest mistakes, like you did. But after a while, how do we distinguish between honest mistakes and people who are trying to cheat?

We have made every honest effort to be fair to everyone on the site, you included. Every DQ request goes through an impressive review; I think you'd be surprised at the number of requests we receive, and how thoroughly each of them is reviewed before a decision is rendered. Nobody on SC jumps the gun and pushes the big DQ button until the majority of us have decided that a disqualification is the appropriate action to take.

I'm very sorry that this has happened to your shot, and I hope you'll continue to use the site. Only you can decide what to take from this experience. You can pout and take your marbles and go home, as some have done in the past... or you can learn something new for the day, put that knowledge to use, and reap the benefits of the site. That's a decision only you can make. I hope you'll choose the latter. We'll all be better off.

This thing about being called "Mr. Slippers" is... well... it's *your* name. You picked it, dude.

Mr. ...uh, whatever-name-won't-offend-you: You were fairly positive about the site until this morning, and I really don't understand why you would get so upset over this trivial issue (personally, I'd be more frustrated over folks marking down photos just because of their size). Nothing good can come from blasting the SC for doing their job, and the forum response to your own attacks has been remarkably restrained. Think about what just happened here... you came to DPC to submit photos and learn something. You've achieved both- congratulations. You also received the rare gift of a fresh start in the process. Due to an honest mistake, it looks like all of your entries will be voided, and you can enter with the benefit of three challenges under your belt. There can be no downside to this story unless you make one.

I thought people started out being very kind...then, like many threads like this...one person fights back and then the mob mentality kicks in.

But this guy started at least three threads and was unkind in all of them...he was hurt by being called "Mr. Slippers" while he was calling others assholes, bigots, and some other B_____ word which nobody has figured out yet...

I agree. It looked like 6 different people very politely tried to help in the face of many less-than-polite responses. The vast majority of name calling and teasing came from glass_slippers himself. Hopefully, he'll calm down and come back later a little more civil.

Reading this thread is like watching a mob torment an angry bear (or something). It never ceases to amaze me how much pleasure people take here in acting superior when people loose their cool. It happens to us all. A little compassion and empathy, people.

Yeah, for a lesson in this, check out Club Juggle's grace in his repeated responses at the beginning of this thread.

Bob, to be fair he got away with near murder during the course of the day, and the responses of the SC were very polite and fair. I'm amazed how everyone managed to keep their cool to be honest.

have there been more suspensions today? it's just in the last hour i've received a comment on one of my entries (he used the word "lousy" three times, out of six words! woo!) and when i decided to go to his profile so i can PM him some polite constructive criticism with regards to his reviewing technique, it said in red letters that his account had been deactivated. is this right? in the last hour or so?

editted to say, oops, didn't really there was a whole gang of us and this is discussed elsewhere. just ignore me.

Now hang on here.

This morning I was called a b******** (which, I'll grant ya, nobody really knows what that stands for), insensitive (and okay, maybe I am because I told him to quit whining and get over it), an asshole, a bigot, and vicious (because I called him by his own name). I'm not particulary offended because I don't particulary care about sticks and stones like that... But when folks whose work I admire (yeah, though nobody 'round here really knows me yet) start insinuating stuff, well, honestly... Then I kinda take exception to that.

As has been noted, this gentleman started several threads completely getting out of control about stuff, and got it handed back to him. I think that the responses he received were in keeping with the attitude he presented. If you had a child who whined on and on for hours in a similar manner and then started calling names, you would maybe spank the child or send them to time out to think their actions over. You would not encourage the child to behave in a similar manner again. In my opinion, sometimes we encounter adults who never received proper direction as children. I think this is one of those circumstances.

Yes, it's good to be patient and tolerant. However, I do not feel that it's necessary to be tolerant of those who fly off the handle and expect their outburst to be sympathized with.

Furthermore, I think the SC was patient and completely justified in their comments and in the steps they took. Having moderated an online forum elsewhere several years ago, I know it can be hard to be fair and keep your cool when folks are trying to get your goat, and I think they did a great job of keeping their professionalism about them this morning.

I agree Kim.

He started at least 3 threads that began with "FRICKIN BULL CRAP". He was wanted attention, He got it.
I was simpathetic to his situation. However, he is not the first person that this has happened to, nor will it be the last(look at the landmarks challenge) . The SC has made it very clear where they stand on the issue of EXIF dates, and has no choice but to uphold the rules. They have been responsible, posting warnings, and clearly defining the rules. To complain, about your own ignorance, after the fact, is silly.
I have no empathy for someone who asks for understanding, by making accusations. The SC was supposed to be understanding of his situation, but he had no interest in trying to understand theirs. In fact, he began by slandering them. He wanted respect, but gave none.
