Ok here are two pictures of the same tower [1760 ft. tall] on a clear day. The first picture is taken at wide angle 36mm. And the second picture was taken at full optical zoom 432mm. Both pictures taken with the camera vertically and taken from the same POV within 30 sec. of each other. What is on the right side of the zoom picture???
Lens is very clean and did not show in any other pictures.
Don’t think its lens flair because of the suns position.
Could it be high winds [windy today] going around the 1760 ft. antenna?

It looks like the outline of a breast man, seriously...that's whacked.

hmmm. I don't know. Maybe it wasn't dust, but perhaps a dried water spot on the lens? I'm clueless, but I don't think it's a result of the wind.

Lens flare. You had to raise the angle of your lens to center the tip of the tower on the close up, that's why its in one shot, and not the other.

edit: Oops, didn't finish reading all your post. I still think it looks like lens flare, but I wasn't there, so I can't argue whether the sun's possition made it likely or not.

I was thinking lens flare, but I had the lens flare cap on the camera and the sun was to my left about 90 deg. or close to it. And its not round like most flare and don't have any color? But you may be right.

EDIT: didn't know my right from my left.

LOL. That's what I was thinking too! :-)
I think it must be lens flare or perhaps there is dust in your camera. I can see two very faint circles in the first photo as well. The first is next to the tower's third red segment up from the bottom on the right side, the second is to the left of the tree with the white/yellow branches. Good luck figuring this one out.

Thanks for everyones input. I think I may have to agree with ScottK, lens flare. I may not of had my lens hood on correctly since I don't use it often. But if a lens flare it is a large lens flare.

It might also have been some shiny thing blowing around in the sky that made a weird reflection. You should see some of the weird dust reflections that got in some pictures I took with a flash in a house that was under construction.

Those weird relections in my pictures were actually how I found DPC! I was searching for an answer to what they were on the internet and ran across DPC!

Didn't think about that Sammie, but you may be right. I guess I was destracted by the zoom of the FZ20, Pretty good zoom [handheld] to the top of a 1760' tower [510 ft. taller than the Empire State Building].

Thats wierd almost like radio waves. my first impression though is a finger print. but I am no expert.

I think its definitely lens flare. You can see the a shape of the aperture blades (I think). You can also see a very faint lens flare in the first picture, 2/3 from the top near the right edge, just to the left of the highest tree branch. I have a calibrated monitor, which probably helps to see such a faint anomaly.
