Thought I'd do a little better than this, as I think this is one of my technically better efforts, but, considering I was at 4.19 after the first batch of votes, I am relatively happy.

I'm especially grateful for the comments, 5 at this stage is a high number for me. Thanks to those taking the time.

Once again, a victim of my own un-originality. :) Anyone else feel this way?

I'm doing the worst of ever done score-wise but I was thinking outside the box for this challenge, so I don't expect to do well. It's sometimes frustrating yet amusing that the challenge descriptions will give leeway for various interpretations, yet a lot of voters need something concrete and linear to vote on.Looks like a lot of excellant work out there for this challenge though.

Not so good this time but I thought I would try something a little different.

I'm kicking myself a bit, looking at the pic I could have done better with it, still it's my own fault for leaving it till the last minute :)

Up slightly from this morning.
Regardless of my score, I'm very happy with my photo. I knew going into it that it might be a risk. But I'm jazzed that it already got tagged as a favorite. That's pretty cool. Good luck to all!

Argh! I thought this was one of my strongest entries to date, and it may not crack 6. I don't get it. :-(

I really wanted to submit this one:

But decided to go a "safer " route and now I am getting killed. Started out with a 8, was hanging on to 6.5, now at:

I was sure my "safe" photo was at least a high five, or even a low six photo! (Or at least my average!) If I knew I would do this bad, I would have rather submitted the hydrant!!!

Ever have one of those mornings where DPC made you consider putting your camera in a box and moving on...

I was really expecting more this time.
Regardless the votes I am very happy with my picture. Maybe my monitor is not calibrated properly and the yellow looks weird. It's not a very original shot but IMO it is pretty well done technically.
And there, of course, are no comments of the few 1s and 2s I got!
Still is my average so I am not worried :)

Edit to update. It's going down...

Down again...

I am not a great commenter but when I give a 1, 2 or 3 I usually give the guy a reason ...
But this is an old story on DPC. I don't bother anymore. I am still happy with my pic and this is what's important!

Thought I would do better with this one as I really liked this photo. Just wish I knew what people didn't like about it.

Well I am deinately doing better than my last entries where I actually finished in last place so at this point anything would be an improvement. I watch last night as the clock turned over and the voting began. I started with an 8+ average but when I got up this morning and looked...booo fricken hoo! I started voting last night..but haven't finished. I am going to be a lot more critical with the scoring from now on.

I should have entered this happy meal shot of a Cheetah from the Lion King. But I figured it was way to out there and would have done poorly.

Motion blurs on static objects tend to get hammered (and a lot of tripod comments). If you liked the hydrant better regardless of score, then you should have submitted that one. If you didn't care about the score, though, then you probably wouldn't have posted to this thread. ;-)

And dropping. Bah. Won't *someone* please tell me why?!? :)
And this after I agonized last night over which to enter... On the other hand, it looks like many others are quite a bit lower than expected too.

Of course I care -- I just want to be loved ;) I liked both photos, and just went the "safer" route. The question always is: worth takin the riskier way? On DPC, I don't think so.

I probably would be in the low 4s with the hydrant, and even unhappier. But I submitted it to ArtSIG, and we'll see how it goes there.
