Here is the shot. It was not because of the use of filters or layers, it was spot editing. Stupid on my part to try and slide that by. It was doing pretty well also...sitting at a 5.6

Man I screwed up this time.

can you also post the original?

Legal or not I thought that was a neat photo - looks solarized, though.
Is that type editing ok under the basic rules?

So, you're saying you knowingly broke the rules? Hmmm. Not much sympathy here.

I'm not asking for sympathy...thanks though. I said It was stupid straight up, bad move on my part. Whatever, what's done is done, and the image was dealt with. Here is the original. And I only did curves, no solarization or anything like that...I did do some neat image at the end. I just thought the original looked blah, and needed something to make it stand out.

Yep I agree. The one with the curves modification is more interesting. In fact quite a neat photo. Lesson learned for you. I can't tell where you spot edited but I understand the temptation. I was sorely tempted to get rid of a bit of dust on my yellow image but resisted the temptation... I'm sure you will do the same next time. In my opinion you live and learn and I'm glad this one bit you so you'd learn the lesson. Better here than somewhere where it would really be a disaster like on a job application or something like that... Good for you for owning up. Ann

Looks like you just cloned out the scratches above the plugs, which was silly because they would probably add to the feeling of electrical energy and vibration. Foolery indeed! You'd really be kicking yourself if this had ribboned.

Tomfoolery/Clint, I want you to know something...I am soooo glad I read your thread here, I had just entered a photo that I really work hard on in the Yellow Challenge....I had clonned out some tiny spots because I thought I had read that it was okay to do just a tiny bit of cloning. WHEW!!!! Am I glad I read this, I went back and entered one that hadn't been clonned.

I really liked your photo and that is such a shame, but I am glad you had the nerve to post about it in the forums....probably saved at least one person a disqualification. Thanks at least for that. I am new here and still learning my way around.

My daughter was getting ready to enter her image for the yellow competition and asked me about "bandaiding" a couple of white specks. I told her NO, that it was NOT legal. The specks bothered her so much that she reshot the whole thing.

My low tech image had recently been disqualified, so she at least thought to ask me about it, thank goodness. I am not sure if our family could stand the disgrace of another disqualification :-)

Best of Luck
