This didn't turn out quite the way I wanted, so I didn't submit.

Shrunken considerably:

//www.people.carleton.edu/~watermas/reflections

I'd appreciate thoughts, it was a tough choice between that and my entry (though they're nothing alike)

(Edit: first link was ridiculously huge, sorry)

i think those would get me a safe 5. Anyway i entered one which is not as bright, lovely or colorful, but the fun i had taking it was worth being slaughtered now. (actually the one I entered is TOTALLY different from these so i'm not giving anything away). Well, it's about fun for me.
Hope I end up over 5 with the entered one.

Good luck all of you
Wu

I've finally managed to prove to myself over the past few contests that I have more respect for photographers that shoot from the heart.

It's relatively easy to take 'safe' pics, but I think there is more pride in taking original images that make you feel good about photography. It much harder to succeed with images that might not be to the tastes of the masses, but also it's far from impossible.

Let us not forget that probably the most respected photographer on this site (21 ribbons and a very recpectable avg. vote received) continues to entertain us with his originality and vision (and, for what it's worth he does not use a dSLR).

I have a shot I pulled from Lucky 7.. but I'm on a new system and I don't have the picture on here.. (It's online, but damned if I can remember the name of the file.) I'll post it when I get back on the old system.

This is exactly what I did, with the added information that I was royally drunk at the time of shooting. I did delete the entry. It's too bad even to show here.

One of my outtakes really don't think this would have done well at all... really just a half-assed attempt while I was trying to come up with something worthwhile.

I was trying for a macro effect of something but couldn't quite get the seven objects required. I could post an outtake ... but I may be able to use the same sort of thing for a future challenge, so I won't. (I'm just looking forward to when I can get a method of taking decent macro shots, i.e. new camera)

I agree with what you have said....exept onr thing the DSC-F828 is a dSLR. It just doesent have the interchangeablr lenses you are used to seeing.

I think you'll find that most people would categorise the f 828 as a prosumer camera rather than a dSLR... you may be able to do a lot of the same things, but the interchangeable lenses is a large part of what makes an slr an slr

Speaking of respected photog's on this site, I was surprised to see, given the controversy his work generates around these parts that DRJones has the second highest average score here - testament to his technical skill I guess.

Also jaw jopping is Kiwiness's 1 ribbon every 3 tries ratio - thats just ridiculous.

Maybe I've misunderstood some basics at some point, but I thought what defined an (d)SLR was Single Lens Reflex, i.e. view through the lens and at the point of taking the pic, the mirror or prism moves out of the way and the film/sensor is exposed. With non-dSLRs the sensor is used continually to provide the TTL preview. At the point of shutter release there is a need to clear the CCD and record what is coming through the lens (hence there is allways going to be a bit of a shutter lag). Well that's how I understand it - please correct me if I'm wrong.

I entered a VERY special and weird picture that you really have to think about while viewing it, and I don't think alot of people are:P Shoulda expected that, but the main thing is, I like it right? hehehe

Got 4 comments alredy and an avarage of 4 :/

I guess i misunderstood

I took what i saw on the first website I looked at as being correct.
Although quite similar in capabilities to a dslr it uses a tft screen for a viewfinder. Here is the "first website"iI looked at, thank you for getting me to take a closer look.

Here's the Lucky 7 shot I pulled.

I thought it was just a fun little take on the challenge, but got convinced that it was a shallow, unworthy photograph that focused too strongly on the challenge itself, and not enough on photographic elements.

Which I suppose is true.
