I wanted to start this thread since we only have 41 days till 2005. I have seen numerous threads offering site suggestions and most of them were good and would help. Here is the unofficial thread to post your proposed changes. Give examples how it would help, so that the SC can understand why you would like to see such change(s). SC, Please read and take in to consideration what has been proposed by the users. We know only a few will be adopted because of time, money, etc. But here is a place we can input ideas all in one thread.

1. A way to make any forum on or off like Rant is now.

2. DPCP2 done before April for next wedding season.

I would like to see small thumbnails in the users profile page for all the past challenge entries.
At the moment all you get is a list of titles which is pretty dull.

The SC do read and take into consideration all the suggestions put forth by users. Unfortunately, it's not up to the SC to implement most of them.

That being said, here's what I'd like to see:

- the ability to ignore threads without having to open them
- the ability to integrate dpcp into my own website
- some sort of description of planned feature updates and a loose timeline
- a way to arrange my prints in the order I want
- a buy and sell forum
- keyword search for photo galleries
- fewer vague DQ requests :)

Can’t the SC pass a long the proposed change to the Administrators or D & L for consideration since the SC monitors the threads.

Yes, we can. And that is exactly what we do. Even without underlined reminders. :)

Thank you, no disrespect by the underlined intended.

batch uploading of multiple images or folders to dpcprints for private viewing/sales

(check out pictage.com)

Batch uploading to DPCP - absolutely. Also, maybe a place to buy/sell cameras & equipment. I know, everyone looks on ebay, but it would still be nice to have it here as well.

Do you use Pictage?

a way to see which favorites of yours have been selected without looking at each one as mentioned by someone else

All of these sound great. I would have loved to be able to do batch upload things for when I take photos of events so that others can purchase them but I could possibly get something out of it too...I mean I'm all for donating my photos, but any small bit of return would be great.

I did, but not anymore. They have a great service, but I have changed my buisness practice, and no longer need their services.

Latest images uploaded

I'd like to see a section in the photo area where you could see the latest images uploaded without having to go through individual galleries or ports. I'm sure there are 1000's of spectacular images in there that are never viewed.

- more refined forum search, and more prominant placement of the search option. for obvious reasons.

- checkbox like option to maintain watched threads, making it easier to remove a number of them at once -w/o having to open each one individually.

- i would second most of the previous suggestions in this thread.

A list of changes that are going to be made to the site, listed in descending order of priority. Also, a list of which of these changes have been made. This way, we get to feel that things are actually progressing here.

Basically, I would like to have all of the features available at smugmug on this site.

That would be very cool.

I'd like to see a 5.5 button on the voting page.

I would like to see a new forum titled "have a whinge" which would be a sub-directory to Challenge results. So everyone who whinges about the results would have there own forum which could be ignored a lot easier.

1) I would like to be able to arrange the favorites I have selected into groups. Just like arranging portfolio stuff.

Landscapes, Portraits, Pure Art, etc.

2) When you come online for the first time for a new dpc session it would be nice to have a realtime score update. Now you come online, the page loads and the first thing you do is hit the score update button. This might also save some bandwith for dpc.

3) About the forums: I don't understand why your camera is listed under your name (is your input more important when it is a dSLR?). This site is about photography and one of the things I liked about the old dpc was that your latest submission showed under your name. I'd like to see that restored.

4) Ability to put wider photos in the portfolio, especially for panorama's

5) On the voting pages move the header of the page (dpc logo and menu) to the bottom of the page. This leaves more room on top and causes less scrolling.

6) It would be nice to have a script where you can enter a score by hitting the number on the keyboard instead of needing mouse-clicks / wacom pen ticks.

I absolutely agree. I really miss this feature.

Ditto on this one man. I just now noticed my favorites number increased by one (to 6, woohoo!). I had to look at almost all of my photos, both challenge and portfolio, because it was the one I least expected as someones favorite. This One

Also, someone else mentioned the link to your portfolio in your profile page, "Recent Portfolio Additions," should be highlighted as a link to your actual portfolio. So people know it is a link and that the 4 photos under the link are not the only pictures they can/will see. I guess this is only for newbies (which we all were at one time) since most of us know this already.

Thanks,

Mark
