The road goes ever on - theres your title, from 'The Hobbit' - now a nice hairy foot stepping out of a door onto a well worn path.

hows that ?

a young child, backpack, first day of school kind-of-thing...

a parent and child reading a storybook together...

a person reading a book alone...

a bride and groom...

a graduate in full regalia...

a car on an open road with the road extending out ahead...

If you wanna go spiritual/metaphysical, you could do a coffin, funeral, or grave site.

Photograph the moment a baby is exposed to our toxic world.

A cloudless moonlit night with lots of stars visible and someone with nice clean shiny shoes on holding their feet up like they are walking on the sky. Maybe prop up a briefcase so it looks like s/he is holding that too. Probably be best to use a woman, then she can have bare legs. With someone in pants, you'd have to wire up the hems so the illusion is kept.
