I have a new home for my lens...

Mounted to a brand spanking new 20D with a 580EX flash that silently hovers over it.

Gawd I love toys!

So damn excited that I forgot to attach the image. ROFL

First impressions:
LOVE - Instant power on
LOVE - Fast buffer and 5 frames a second
HATE - Loose battery grip which could cause the camera to power off if picked up 'weird'
LOVE - E-TTL2 (LUST over the 580EX)
LOVE - Auto-Focus speed

Looks like the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS

Now that's badass.. :-).

I'm in waiting mode for my 20D, although I'm starting over in the lens department, so the kit lens will do while I learn the camera, then there may well be a few L's in my future...

I'm curious about the battery grip (BG-E2?). I was looking at the grip as I really like the idea of a portrait grip & shutter release.. What is the problem there?

Cheers, Chris H.

VisiBlanco is correct, it's the 70-200mm 2.8L IS.

There seems to be a problem with the grip (a number of people are complainnig about this) in that it seems a bit weak structurally. It screws into the body fine and seems stable but near the grip end, you can pull on it and the battery contacts will seperate inside the handle which turns the camea off. Could be a problem for with the 70-200mm since it's so heavy. If I pick up the camera by the grip, it could shutdown for a brief second.

Oh one more hate - Phase 1 doesnt support the 20D RAW files yet.

I'm so sorry to see this :)

But.. According to the new set of rules any images taken with a Canon "White" Lens or other IS functioning lenses are not allowed anymore. They figure it is an unfair advantage :)

Some people were born yesterday. That would dq all my lenses, my IS canon's and VR nikkor's.

OK, I am seriously jealous 'cause I wanted that lens, but my jealously is tempered by the 580ex I bought Monday, and the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 (which I "settled" for), Sigma 1.4x converter, and the Lexar 80x 1GB CF card that will arrive tomorrow!

Woohoo for you,
and Woohoo for me!

Ok – Now that I look at that picture I understand why we guys want these type toys. Mine is bigger than yours.

I think the biggie 3 grip on the 10d looks like it fits so much better with the camera.

OK..

That's not so flash, but I'm sure I'll find out next week.. I also read about some of the BG-E2's having an over sensitive shutter button? Does yours have that problem?

I popped into the camera shop and added the bg-e2 to the order, I really like the idea of a portrait shutter release as my old film SLR winder/grip had one. Should all be here on the 25th.

Damn, 8 sleeps. :-).

Cheers, Chris H.

Nope, the shutter button on the grip appears to be working just fine. Not sensitive at all.
