Between the fact that virtually nobody ever leaves legit CC on FB, and it's dead easy to just throw up any image any time, this directed working site requires more effort than the instant gratification folks want to commit.

And yet, Jeb, you started this thread by telling us the kind of feedback you want.

Mmm, yeah, okay, that I did, but I also stated that I realize there's no way to have that happen since the images are anonymous so I'm not sure of your point.

I get comments that I don't care for, but I would never hassle someone for that.

I *might* ask if they would care to elaborate, but generally the comments are clear so I've not done that if I recall correctly.

Well, I would hope that you would report that to SC should it happen.

That's just wrong.

We just had a funny episode a few challenges back, where I made a comment and someone else (sorry can't remember who), made almost the exact opposite comment .... that's art. You can't please everyone :-D.

That was on my entry in the Impressionism challenge. The tilt didn't work for you, but Markwiley liked that aspect of it. I love getting conflicting comments!

I have a bit of an issue with people who accuse you of doing something to your photo which you haven’t, and then justify the score of three that they give you because of that reason. Maybe they have a horse in the race, usually they do!

I would prefer that you give people the benefit of the doubt, accusations are quite difficult to take especially if you’re innocent.

Also if you’re going to critique a photo also mention something you possibly like about it. Just talking about the negative does not help at all. It’s not encouraging. Very discouraging, especially if all the other comments are very positive, it just seems pedantic to list the things that annoy you about the photo, once again I feel this is because the same person who comments has an image that could possibly be scoring well. Just saying, I’ve noticed after roll over this is the case.

It doesn't matter what kind of critique someone wants or doesn't want. You either like the shot or you don't or you like or dislike it with reservations. Whether or not they're interested in your opinion -- you have one. And nothing's going to change that. Not telling them your opinion, doesn't change it. If they're not interested in what people think, they needn't enter the challenges. Because part of the process is to receive comments on images.

You're not leaving a comment solely for the photographer. You learn a lot by commenting. And others learn a lot by reading the comments. The photographer learns something -- they learn what you think. They may not care what you think, but that's perfectly fine.

DO NOT let people keep you from one of the best learning tools of this site.
